In honor of the NCAA tournament season, Give Me My Remote is bringing back our TV-centric bracket, pitting similarly titled episodes against each other: Couch Madness! (Credit for the excellent name goes to fellow reporter Chris Hayner.)

The seeding is simple: rather than quality of the hour, we’re going by air date (with the oldest episode getting the #1 slot and the newest getting #8). With Peak TV, this will not include every single show that has used this title; rather, we picked a selection from what was available.

The first round will run from through Friday, March 21. Round two will kick off on Monday, March 24, with the final face-off starting on Monday, March 31.

Next up? “No Good Deed.” And with this title, there are enough shows for two separate brackets. So keep reading for the first bracket, episode descriptions (from IMDB), and the poll. (For the other episodes competing, check out all the brackets here!)

DIAGNOSIS MURDER (1): “Dr. Sloan investigates a controversial attorney who confesses to murder while near death but recants after he recovers.”

vs.

PERSON OF INTEREST (8): “The newest POI’s curiosity could spell his doom when he finds himself embroiled in a dark government conspiracy – one that Finch is all too familiar with. Meanwhile, Reese uncovers something revealing about Finch’s past.”

THE CLOSER (2): “The shooting of a witness may free a murderer, and as the team investigates the involvement of a Catholic school’s Civics class, a bombshell is dropped in the “murder room.”

vs.

90210 (7): “In an effort to put her inheritance to good use, Annie volunteers to organize a big charity fundraiser.”

CSI: NY (3): “The lab tackles a case involving a murdered Internet entrepreneur whose body has been picked apart by vultures.”

vs.

BURN NOTICE (6): “While Michael works with Max to intercept some files on a stolen tablet computer, Barry asks the gang to help his brother, who is having problems with a hacker.”

PARENTHOOD (4): “Adam offers an internship position to Sarah at T&S Footwear. Meanwhile, Kristina helps Suze Lessing through her divorce by babysitting Noel. Julia commits to a play date for Sydney that threatens her other friendships. Elsewhere, Jasmine and Crosby debate where Jabbar should live when Jasmine takes a new job.”

vs.

TRAFFIC LIGHT (5): “When Adam accidentally gets Callie’s car stolen, he tries to make it up to her by replacing the old car with a brand-new hybrid. In an effort to surprise Callie with a brand-new car, Adam enlists the help of Mike and Ethan to get the best deal on the car, but the hunt for the best bargain turns into a competition. Meanwhile, Mike’s grown-up “little brother” from a mentor program he used to volunteer for visits Mike and Lisa and surprises them both with an unexpected book dedication, and Ethan befriends a loner car salesman.”
