In the aftermath of Catherine’s (Aja Naomi King) infidelity, she and Tucker (Jocko Sims) are looking to revive their marriage on the Sunday, March 23 episode of GROSSE POINTE GARDEN SOCIETY.

“They’re going to have to get through this situation because he seems—seems—to not be going anywhere, right?” Sims tells Give Me My Remote in the video below. “[He] wants to hang on to what they have. So they’re going to try some stuff. They’re going to listen to the relationship podcast, they’re gonna set scheduled times to have sex. And all of that in itself makes for some awkward moments, and a lot of fun. This next episode…I’m really excited about. It’s one of my favorites.”

As the duo is dealing with that, Gary (Saamer Usmani)—whom Catherine admitted she fell for beyond their physical affair—goes missing. And, naturally, it also gets messy for Catherine and Tucker’s relationship.

“[It’s] the awkwardness of Tucker and Catherine trying to work this out with the backdrop…of a missing Gary—and clearly Catherine has had some sort of affection [for] Gary, so it’s kind of affects her, and [Tucker]’s trying to get away from the whole Gary thing,” Sims points out. “I mean, playing that was so fun, and playing with Aja…she plays Catherine so well.”

“She always brings us vulnerability, and I gotta just be cool and mask,” he continues. “She’s letting it out, and I’m masking something. So that’s a lot of fun. And working with the kids is fun, and we get to see a little bit more of their home life and relationship in this episode, so I can’t wait.”

While Tucker seems to be forgiving his wife, what did Sims want to know about his character’s motivations before he filmed? “I wanted to get only the information that I needed heading into it,” he says. “Because I do like learning each week what happens when I get a script. So I thought it would be a fun challenge to play a role like this, where, clearly, there’s something going on, but me not quite know yet.”

“So I got a loose skeleton arc of what was going to happen,” he continues. “But the details have made it so much fun and so fascinating, and I’ve not been in much of a position like that [before].”

Sims was equally in the dark about the mystery of Quiche, the murdered person at the center of the show’s flash forward.

As a fan of crime stories (“My YouTube algorithm is full of it”), Sims notes for this fictional tale, “I want to know what on earth is this about? I mean, how do you have these normal people end up in this situation?”

“And they seem, as I watch, to all be on the same page and working together,” he adds. “I mean, it’s one thing in real life…to see people snap and sort of something happens or goes wrong is always fascinating enough and horrible at the same time. But to see a group of people in it? So as I watch, and as a fan, I’m like, ‘I just can’t wait to know how in the hell a group of good people can end up in that situation.’”

When Sims learned the victim’s identity, he “didn’t see that coming.”

“And when you’re watching a whodunnit, everybody’s a suspect, right?” he points out. “Yeah, same thing: Anybody that you ever see on screen could be [the victim].”
