Let’s talk about Sunday night’s TV!

FAMILY GUY: While it doesn’t sound very healthy/safe to eat (yes, the city was right to shut them down), I would like to try Stewie’s apparently incredible pizza. And I laughed out loud at Pete Davidson’s live-action cameo explaining how he gets so many girls: “I just text them back promptly.”

AMERICAN IDOL: Some really great auditions. Penny’s take on “Pink Pony Club was great. Nina Daig has an incredible voice. And Desmond Roberts was so good. (I cannot believe how far he drives to work every day, too.)

It was also a very stunt-y episode, in a season that has felt a bit more stunt-y than before. It’s enjoyable! Just an interesting shift. The Bo Bice cameo made me laugh out loud. And Wilson Phillips singing during Carnie’s daughter’s audition was incredible, too.

But, also, I’m so jealous of Sophia Humbert getting to destroy a car while singing “Before He Cheats.” Can we all do this?!

THE GREAT NORTH: Okay, the debate team was fun. I know it probably can’t continue (given they had to find a deep loophole to not be eliminated by default), but I hope somehow they can find a way to bring it back one day.

GROSSE POINTE GARDEN SOCIETY: It’s wild, every time I think Catherine and Tucker must be doomed, they surprise me. I get why he installed a camera–I don’t agree with it, to be clear—but rather than it (fairly!!) driving her away, she got upset and then put on a show.

Alice and Brett continue to be so messy, and their unexpected double date was so awkward. (But, like, on a friend level, Brett should have told her he had tickets to the game. That’s a very valid reason to blow someone off for watching it on TV.)

I know I’m overthinking this, and the point was for Catherine to give the attendant the bracelet that ties her to that location, but how do you pump gas without putting in money? Is that a thing that’s done in some states?!

THE $100,000 PYRAMID: Paul Scheer and June Diane Raphael really are a power couple on this show—they helped a contestant win $150k and a trip to Ireland? It was a great, great first game.

Game 2 was insane, but I don’t even blame the contestants or celebrities. “Things that are deep” is a hard thing to come up with clues for. “Things that are quaint” is HARDER, WTF?! At least deep…I was thinking, okay, say something related to the pool. I could come up with nothing about quaint, and I didn’t even have a clock going or the pressure of all of that money.

THE EQUALIZER: This was absolutely “The Guest Star Did It”-itis (hi, Zachary Knighton!), but it had a larger impact since Robyn felt betrayed by her mentor who initially tried to defend Knighton’s Strickland. While the general eventually turned on Strickland and held him accountable for the rapes and murder, I would understand if that fundamentally changed Robyn’s relationship with him going forward.

So, Dante getting his job back, but not being allowed to do vigilante work on the clock…how long will this last?

It’s, unfortunately, realistic that Delilah’s arrest for protesting would impact her college admission. On a practical show level, I’m curious where they take this next: Do they utilize this as a way to keep her around if the show gets renewed? Does another school embrace her activism?
