THE IRRATIONAL threw a curveball into Rose (Karen David) and Alec’s (Jesse L. Martin) blossoming romance on the Tuesday, March 18 episode: Rose revealed she had a husband.

“It’s something that we had talked about in the writers’ room very early on,” THE IRRATIONAL showrunner Arika Lisanne Mittman tells Give Me My Remote. “But we didn’t realize how much of a punch it was going to have and how much we would all fall in love with Rose and Alec. [So]…I almost didn’t do it. I was almost like, ‘Should we give her the husband?’

Ultimately, the writers opted to go with their original plan “because it makes for a great story.”

And in the Tuesday, March 25 season 2 finale, “The Exchange,” viewers will meet Rose’s husband, Logan (Nick Sager). “What I will say is he is related to her time at MI6,” Mittman teases. “And that he will bring us into a new investigation in the finale that Alec will be involved with, as well.”

And it’s not exactly a simple case, either. “The finale deals with a very sensitive prisoner exchange with Russia,” Mittman previews. “And Alec finds out that somebody he knows—he knows very well from years past—has also been detained in Russia. And so the case becomes very personal for him.”

Can’t wait until the episode? Watch Alec and Rose meet up with Logan, as he explains what’s going on…
