FBI, FBI: INTERNATIONAL, THE ROOKIE

“Little Angel” – After an American CEO living in Prague is extorted for millions in cryptocurrency and his family is kidnapped, Mitchell receives a surprise visit from his ex-girlfriend, FBI Special Agent Ella Driscoll, who wants the Fly Team’s help on the case, on FBI: INTERNATIONAL, Tuesday, April 1 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs). Let’s talk about Tuesday night’s TV!

FBI: I have mixed feelings about this episode. On the one hand, I think parts of this worked well as a smart way to introduce a potentially new agent for the show—especially her cover being blown, so then she works with the team instead on the bigger case…it was a good idea. On the other hand, Maggie’s storyline ended up feeling a lot more compelling and really could/should have been a standalone. It just felt like the two parts didn’t actually complement each other, despite the obvious on-paper undercover parallel.

FBI: INTERNATIONAL: I guess congrats to Ella for being way worse than I expected? Oy. What a corner to back Wes and the team into. I’m glad that the Fly Team so thoroughly trusts each other at least; Amanda and Wes trusting each other with the truth about Ella and then debating what to do was very nice. I don’t know what the right thing to do is/was, but I understand why getting justice was more important than risking everything to take Ella down. But yikes, man. (After that end scene, I also reiterate my stance that basically any couple could work on this show. I remain sad we won’t get more time in this world.)

THE ROOKIE: So, uh, that social media girl was awful. Obviously, she unleashed hell, too, but eesh. The fact she wasn’t fired sooner is kind of insane.

The episode itself kind of felt like you either had to buy into the insanity and “whatever happens” from minute one or it wouldn’t work. (Because then, say, you’d think about all the ways the cops could have gotten alternate messages out/gotten the social media platforms to yank the message ASAP, etc.) So, yeah, it was silly and fun, and why not?

With Chenford, I actually haven’t minded their slow burn walk toward (what I presume will be an eventual) reunion because I do think they both needed time after last season’s breakup. But where do they go from here, now? Do they find another flimsy excuse to physically be together while not actually being a couple? Does this lead to an actual conversation at some point? (But also points to Grey for actually fooling them and faking a heart attack when they “disclosed” and then revealed their April Fools’ Day prank, haha.)

[For more on the episode, here’s what star Shawn Ashmore shared.]

FBI: MOST WANTED: Well, those poisonings are a nightmare. (Also, I know I’ve been watching too much THE PITT because that’s the first thing my brain snapped to in the opening sequence in the ED.) This felt like an episode/case where the perp wasn’t meant to be as sympathetic, but I did feel bad for his kid, at least. (And, again, going to have nightmares about bleeding from the freaking eyes.)

Now that we know the show is coming to an end, I am curious about the timing of Remy’s purchase…was this always intended to be a part of the season? Or is this an extra little tidbit added on so we know a little more about what his post-show world will be like?
