Let’s talk about Tuesday night’s TV!
FBI: So, the large part of me is so, so, so charmed by Phillip. I was skeptical! The marriage itself was shocking, and felt a bit of character (at least that it would be hidden), so I was a little wary about what we’d see. But if we are to trust what we saw, Phillip may be one of the most supportive spouses in procedural history.
But the “if” is nagging at my brain a little bit, too. I want to believe the Phillip we saw is who Phillip actually is. Isobel certainly deserves it. It’s also a TV series, so I’m a little concerned he’s too perfect, too supportive, and we’re about to be blindsided. I hope I’m wrong!
It’ll be interesting to see how/when the show next utilizes Billie, though. She has different stakes for Isobel, but now she’s duped the entire team…they will want to contain the mess they accidentally unleashed.

THE ROOKIE: I was expecting Monica to be connected to the billboards, but Liam could be an interesting, messy twist.
Man, I loved the Miles storyline, though. I was a little worried about how they’d handle his friend coming back into play—not that Miles would do something bad, but what trouble it could cause for him, especially at work—but instead Miles had Rachel’s back, helped save A.J., and deescalated a terrible situation. (Okay, he also had to kick some ass in a pool, which, spoiler alert, does not look easy.) And it led to my favorite scene of the episode: Tim (reluctantly) admitting to Miles that he could be a good cop. We know Tim doesn’t give praise lightly. We know this team just had a rookie who didn’t live up to expectations. So it means a lot.
I’m also glad—as weird as that is to say given the context—that Rachel’s struggles were because she couldn’t handle her grief. I’m glad she opened up to Lucy and I hope she can start to rebuild now.

FBI: INTERNATIONAL: Well, the Smitty and Booth reunion was my favorite part of the entire episode, but oh my goodness the affection in their voices was delightful. They’re friends!
The case was tragic, though, and they were correct: It would have been kinder for the entire family if David had just died in an accident. Instead, his entire messy life got exposed and his family was taken down, too.
I feel terrible for Wes, though, who tried so hard to be strong about his biological father being up for parole and then was unable to stay on the video call when the man pointedly looked at the camera. I’m sure this isn’t finished, but, hopefully, it doesn’t cause too much turmoil. (I know this is wishful thinking.)
FBI: MOST WANTED: It feels silly to be sad about Barnes potentially leaving the team since we’re about to lose all of them, no matter what, next month. The important thing is that she is happy and her being with her kids, at the very least, would make her happy. But I am sad to realize/remember this little team may not continue on without us. Alas.
