AMERICA’S GOT TALENT Season 20 Premiere: Which Acts Got Golden Buzzers?

[Warning: This post contains spoilers for the Tuesday, May 27 season premiere of AMERICA’S GOT TALENT.]

AMERICA’S GOT TALENT kicked off its 20th season by handing out two Golden Buzzers on the Tuesday, May 27 season premiere. (Each judge and host Terry Crews will get two Golden Buzzers this season.)

First, Simon Cowell handed out a Golden Buzzer to Brazilian act Light Wire, an immersive art experience that combined technology with (human) dancers.

After cheers from the crowd post-their performance, Cowell remained standing, applauding what he saw. “You never ever, ever, ever know when you’re doing a new year whether you’re going to see something better than you’ve seen before,” he said. “This was one of the most beautiful, stunning acts I have seen across all of the GOT TALENTs.”

“I don’t know why you were nervous because you were always going to get one of—you know what’s coming,” Cowell teased as he pushed the button.

Then, Jourdan Blue caught the eye of the judges after performing The Script’s “Breakeven.”

“It was like I was hearing that song for the first time, which is really hard to do with such a popular song,” Mel B said. “But your tone, and the way you delivered that song, was not only pitch perfect, but everything perfect, Jordan. It really was.”

Cowell said he felt “seriously amazing” after hearing Blue’s performance.

“This is season 20,” Howie Mandel pointed out. “I’ve seen dreams come true right where you’re standing. Lives changed right where you’re standing. That stage and that moment can take you anywhere. And this is just the beginning of where you can go.” And then Mandel pushed the buzzer for him.

“I think you’re a star,” Mandel said to Blue when he joined him on stage.
