VERONICA MARS: Enrico Colantoni Previews the Darker Hulu Revival

On VERONICA MARS, the more things change, the more they stay the same—kind of.
In Hulu’s revival season (technically, season 4), Veronica (Kristen Bell) is working with her father, Keith (Enrico Colantoni), at Mars Investigations, doing relatively mundane private investigation work. But things take a serious turn when bombs start taking out parts of their small town.
“Nothing really gets better,” Colantoni notes in the video below. “It’s the dark world that we couldn’t show on The CW or UPN…it is the world that, I think, [creator] Rob [Thomas] had initially envisioned. This is a dark, dark world…we need them both to stay strong.”
However, for Keith, his issues are also closer to home: “Healthcare is expensive…Keith is suffering from not being able to afford to take care of something that was easily fixable,” he explains. “And he’s taking pills that aren’t helping him.”
