CASTLE ROCK: Paul Sparks on the Very Memorable Season Premiere Scene
October 25, 2019 by Marisa Roffman
[Warning: This post contains spoilers for the premiere of CASTLE ROCK season 2.]
CASTLE ROCK’s second season premiere found Annie Wilkes (Lizzy Caplan) backed into a corner, when her temporary landlord, Ace Merrill (Paul Sparks), confronted her, looking for young Joy (Elsie Fisher). (Joy had the misfortune of stumbling on Merrill prepping to attack his stepsiblings’ home.)
Ace was suspicious of Annie from the start, and during the confrontation, he revealed he knew who she really was—and Annie struck back, killing Ace with an ice cream scooper. (Of course, “death,” doesn’t exactly mean the same thing in CASTLE ROCK season 2.)
The sequence was the first scene that Sparks shot of the season. “It was good; it was fun,” he said in the video below. “I don’t get to do that. I’ve die a lot on things, but I haven’t died quite like that.”
