CHICAGO FIRE’s Miranda Rae Mayo Previews an Unexpected Danger

With CHICAGO FIRE’s Stella (Miranda Rae Mayo) adding on new responsibility, she’s been struggling to juggle it all. And in the Wednesday, November 20 fall finale, things come to a head.

“We’ve seen this build up of Stella burning the candle at both ends,” Mayo previews. “She’s the manager at Molly’s, she is in a very successful, beautiful relationship with her man—and that takes time and nurturing. Now she’s teaching classes at the academy. Not to mention anything else Boden wants her to do…and her actual job of fighting fires!”

“So [things go awry] in a way that is completely unprecedented and particularly hard for her to handle as a first responder,” she continues.

The situation is devastating for Stella, who prides herself on her dedication to her job and city. “These people are one hundred percent dedicated to being a beneficial presence to the community: to being of service, of helping,” Mayo says. “So if there was a situation where that wasn’t the case, if a first responder was causing harm to members of the community, it doesn’t matter why, it just would crush them. And so we get to see bits of that story.”
