CHUCK “May” Extended Into Next Summer
May 19, 2009 by Kath Skerry
Today on the NBC press conference call, Ben Silverman said that there “may” be an opportunity for CHUCK to run longer than its order 13 episodes next season. He mentioned that he could see it being a good fit with FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS if the show were to run into the summer.
Now before we go all crazy, let’s remember that CHUCK living past 13 episodes this season is just a slim possibility. But if it’s going to happen it’s going to because of the fans. I know I sound like a broken record, but it’s true, we need to keep up the CHUCK efforts and get more people than every watching and maybe we’ll be rewarded with more episode. Again, a big MAYBE.
But I will say this, Ben Silverman could not be more emphatic in saying that it was the efforts of the fans and the support from Subway that brought CHUCK back. When it was on the bubble NBC listened and watched to see how the fans would react. You stepped up and the show was renewed. It’s that simple.
Job well done, but the job’s not over.
If you have any ideas on what we can collectively due to keep the CHUCK momentum up, leave a comment on the site and/or email me at info(at)givememyremote(dot)com.
P.S. It’s worth letting you know that Ben Silverman credited Alan Sepinwall for Saving Chuck. With all due respect to Alan and all that he did, I think the applause should go to Wendy whose Subway idea really put things into motion. She might not be a name that Ben Silverman knows but fans of CHUCK should know her name well.

More background on the importance of the Save Chuck efforts, this time from the desk of Deadline Hollywood Daily’s Nikki Finke:
“NBC said it didn’t cancel Chuck ‘because of the demand for Chuck that came out of the online community, the critical community, and the advertising base made us have to pick up that show. The other shows had none of that attention or energy.’ Said one of the top execs: ‘I was sent more Nerds than anyone could consume in a lifetime… And Subway and Subway consumers drove so much energy our way.’ NBC also promised to keep Chuck alive during the fall when it’s off the air through an original content online platform.”
I never post comments online, but I have to say, “BRAVO” to everyone who fought to save Chuck. I also want to thank NBC for being wise enough to listen to the typing masses.
