Let’s talk about this weekend’s television!

THE BABY-SITTERS CLUB: My first pop culture love was THE BABY-SITTERS CLUB books, so I had big, big, big hopes for this show. My God, I loved it?? The casting was perfect, the stories were delightful, and the tone was just right. And, frankly, the tone was what I was most curious about, because it would absolutely be understandable if it was geared more toward young kids…but this felt age-appropriate for young ones, yet also welcoming for, um, adults who loved this world as a kid. The way I keep describing the show is that it feels like a hug…it’s comfortable and warm, and I’m so happy we got to spend time in Stoneybrook.

HAMILTON: I saw a touring version of the show, but it truly was something special to see it up-close. The actors’ reactions and physicality is harder to witness in a bigger theater, and the emotion of the smaller moments were lovely to really experience for the first time. The show is in no way perfect, but I’m so glad theater was brought to a larger, more accessible audience.

HOLLYWOOD GAME NIGHT: Boy, was it apparent how old the show was. Also, Tone Bell was on two episodes of THE FLASH! What a resume choice.

It was an odd mini-hub of episodes. On one hand, with five episodes leftover from the rest of the season, they didn’t have much of a variety for how to schedule them. (And NBC was extraordinarily lucky they had their Chris D’Elia episode first.) But it also was a fairly frustrating final round (way too many passes and weird clues), so the season kind of ended with a whimper. That being said, I love this show, and really hope it returns, even if it’s via a socially distanced version.
