HBO Max Orders SEX AND THE CITY Sequel Series
January 10, 2021 by Marisa Roffman
HBO Max has officially ordered a sequel series to SEX AND THE CITY, called AND JUST LIKE THAT…
The series, from executive producer Michael Patrick King, will star original SATC leads Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis. (Kim Cattrall previously declined to return to the franchise.)
According to the streaming platform, “the series will follow Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte as they navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s.” The first season will consist of ten half-hour episodes, with production tentatively set to start this spring in New York.
“I grew up with these characters, and I can’t wait to see how their story has evolved in this new chapter, with the honesty, poignancy, humor and the beloved city that has always defined them,” said Sarah Aubrey, Head of Original Content, HBO Max, in a statement.
AND JUST LIKE THAT… is executive produced by Parker, Davis, Nixon, and King.
The original series was created by Darren Star, based on the book by the same title by Candice Bushnell. The HBO series ran for six years and spawned two theatrical films. (The franchise also had a prequel series, the underrated THE CARRIE DIARIES.)
