Let’s talk about Tuesday night’s TV!

ZOEY’S EXTRAORDINARY PLAYLIST: What an absolute gut-punch, necessary episode. While so many shows have tackled Black Lives Matter this year, what truly impressed me was how Zoey was frequently wrong—well-intentioned, but hurtful—and people called her out on it. The town hall idea is exactly the kind of corporate situation a lot of places do, but isn’t actually helpful. Her saying she doesn’t see Simon as a Black man, is, again, maybe well-intentioned but not actually helpful, because it erases a part of his being for her own comfort.

And I’m so, so, so glad that Tobin stood up for himself and Simon. Look, logically, the fact is SPRQPOINT wouldn’t immediately fix things. They wouldn’t be able to snap things into place that fast and they’d want time. But the fact they got a plan in place to fix things is at least a good start. I hope the show doesn’t let up on the topic. (For more on the episode, here’s what Kapil Talwalkar had to say about Tobin’s big move.)

FBI: Uh, Nestor wanting to move Maggie in felt super, super fast, especially since she was just blindsided by the news that he had kids. That’s a big commitment. But I’m also curious if they end up keeping him around a bit post-breakup to deal with the awkwardness of…everything.

PRODIGAL SON: Okay, the scene of Kate Burton’s character going up in flames was insane. But oh my God, Jessica and Martin working together is going to be a match made in heaven/hell for their kids.

BIG SKY: Look, I don’t think Ronald is going to burn the house down, but I also feel like, uh, he can’t stay this unhinged for long and remain free/alive?! Because, uh, this boy is spiraling in a huuuuuge way.

Which is also going to be an interesting side effect of the expanded season. If the original order had stuck, we’d only have two episodes left of season 1. I hope the story is able to end as planned then and they pivot to a new arc for the final arc of the season.

FBI: MOST WANTED: I know it’s wrong to be impressed by the email draft trick, but, wow, I am. But, also, Amelia was impressively evil? That is a level of cold and calculated you have to work to be, yikes.

(But Crosby also should definitely not hit on Gibson’s roommate, this will lead to trouble.)

NURSES: Oh, was I angry when Grace was blackmailed into signing the NDA, but I am so glad she was able to get it back and tear it the hell up.
