NEW AMSTERDAM Says Goodbye to a Series Regular

[Warning: This post contains spoilers for the Tuesday, April 13 episode of NEW AMSTERDAM.]
NEW AMSTERDAM said goodbye to one of its own with the Tuesday, April 13 hour, “The Legend of Howie Cournemeyer.”
The episode kicked off with the hospital prepping for Dr. Vijay Kapoor’s (Anupam Kher) return, after his post-COVID recovery period. But Kapoor never showed up, and Iggy (Tyler Labine) was devastated to hear, second-hand, that the doctor had actually sent in his resignation.
Iggy tried to call his friend, repeatedly, but was ignored. But Ella (Dierdre Friel) called Iggy and filled him in: though Kapoor survived his ordeal with COVID and the near-fatal complications, his doctor determined he wouldn’t be able to work again. Kapoor was initially in denial, he was forced to admit his career was done.
With Kapoor’s exit from the hospital, this also marks the end of Kher’s tenure on the NBC drama, a source confirms to Give Me My Remote. (Kher, who was with the show since the pilot, has been open about tending to a family situation off-screen.)
Will you miss Dr. Kapoor?
