Tonight’s TV Spotlight…December 1, 2009
December 1, 2009 by Kath Skerry
Hello December! Where did November go? That month flew by a little too fast for my taste. But December’s here so we might as well embrace it.
Good Luck!!
Before we get into tonight’s line-up, I just wanted to wish my blogger BFF Ducky best wishes on his surgery today. Yes, Dan is having surgery, too. We really do like to do things together. HA! Him – today. Me – Friday. Be sure to wish him well over at twitter (@duckydoestv) or over at TheTVTalkPodcast.com.
Is there a party to crash?
President Obama would like a few words with us at 8pm, so we have to wait just a bit to watch our shows. Tonight’s schedule is a little wonky so be sure to check below to see when your shows will be airing.
Dust off those “Scrubs”
If you’re a fan of the ongoings of Sacred Heart Hospital then you should make sure to set those DVRs as the season premiere of the all new but kinda still the same although a little different SCRUBS starts tonight 9pm with back to back episodes. Although I certainly appreciate the humor of SCRUBS, I’ve never been a huge fan. But I’ll check out tonight’s episodes this afternoon and we’ll see. Maybe SCRUBS (the second generation) will hook me.
One for the boys
A special treat for all you straight guys out there that read GMMR. You put up with my admiration of the John Krasinski’s and Neil Patrick Harris’ of the world, so today I’m giving something back to you. I’ve pulled together the Victoria’s Secret models and ask them to do a fashion show for the guys of GMMR. And what do you know, CBS decided to record it and air it tonight. You’re welcome!
On the couch
Don’t forget to check out the late night line-up below. GLEE star Chris Colfer (Kurt) will be on Conan and MODERN FAMILY star Jesse Tyler Ferguson will on CHELSEA LATELY. I can’t wait. And if you’re up early enough, check out Adam Lambert on ELLEN.
Ok on to the show….(or the shows!)
Presidential Address | 8pm on ABC/NBC/CBS/FOX & others
President Obama will address the nation from the United States Military Academy at West Point. According to sources, The President will speak about his decision regarding new U.S. strategy and troop levels in Afghanistan.
90210 | 8pm on The CW
“And Away They Go”
Navid wakes up in the hospital with no memory of who pushed him down the stairs; Adrianna makes a life-changing decision about her addiction; Silver and Teddy bond over the loss of their mothers; Annie and Jasper sneak out.
Melrose Place | 9pm on The CW
“June”
Amanda moves into Syndey’s penthouse and takes an interest in David; David and Lauren’s relationship continues to grow; Ella uses her charm to get Jonah a job; Amanda and Michael reunite.
Scrubs | 9 & 9:30pm | Season Premiere
“Our First Day of School”
J.D., Turk, Denise and Drs. Kelso and Cox teach medicine at Sacred Heart; students Drew, Lucy, Maya and Cole begin their first day.
“Our Drunk Friend”
Turk, J.D. and Dr. Kelso play matchmaker when they spot a potential love connection between Drew and Denise. [GMMR: Aw, gotta love the new ep title structure. All the episode titles of the previous version of SCRUBS started with “My”, but it looks like it’s now “Our”. Aw.]
(More of tonight’s TV spotlight after the jump)
The Biggest Loser | 9pm on NBC | Special Time
“The Marathon”
The final four contestants run a marathon; two finalists are chosen; viewers’ votes determine the third finalist.
So You Think You Can Dance | 8:30pm on Fox | Special Time
“Top 10”
The top 10 dancers will get paired with new partners tonight and dance two routines each to compete for your votes. [GMMR: Want to know who is dancing with who? Check back later this morning as I’ll be posting spoilers for tonight’s show.]
The Forgotten | 10pm on ABC
“Lucky John”
Four months after a man is found dead in the trunk of a car, a DNA test identifies the man as an ex-con who died years ago.[GMMR: I know the joke has been made before, but I honestly keep forgetting that this show is on the air. I never hear anyone talking about it, or see any bloggers covering it. Hmmm.]
Sons of Anarchy | 10pm on FX
“Na Trioblidi”
The second season ends with SAMCRO trying to get rid of Ethan Zobelle (Adam Arkin) and his cohorts once and for all. [GMMR: Many TV bloggers and critics that I respect are loving this show. I never got into it. Did you? Is it really as good as everybody says?]

I will be checking out Scrubs 2.0 or “the new class” or whatever. And SYTYCD. Yay!
I’m hesitant, but I’ll probably give Scrubs 2.0 a go tonight. Not sure it will be my thing, but Scrubs 1.0 (as it was) wasn’t really entertaining me anymore, so if a new cast = new humour, I’m all for it.
And of course, SYTYCD. So far the season hasn’t hooked me, but now that we’re down to Top 10, I should be able to cement some faves.
I’m looking forward to the nuanced writing and rich character development that shines through in the Victoria’s Secret show 🙂
Good luck to you on your surgery. I hope all goes well.
I’ll be watchin SYTYCD, 90210, and Scrubs 2.0, which I’m really excited for it because I’ve always LOVED Scrubs.
Sons of Anarchy is THE BEST SHOW. Katey Sagal, as Gemma, has been phenomenal. The story lines are intricate and well crafted. You should absolutely consider watching the first two seasons.
