THE LAST OF US: Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker Cast of HBO Adaptation

HBO’s adaptation of THE LAST OF US has recruited Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker, it was announced at Summer Game Fest.

Johnson and Baker previously starred in the video game franchise as Ellie and Joel, respectively. In the HBO series, Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal will portray those roles, with Johnson and Baker playing different, TBA, characters. (HBO also released a first look at Pascal and Rasmey in the roles, which is featured above.)

According to HBO, “the story takes place twenty years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.” The series also stars Gabriel Luna, Merle Dandridge, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, Nick Offerman, Jeffrey Pierce, and Anna Torv.

Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin serve as co-creators/writers/directors. Kantemir Balagov, Jasmila Žbanić, Ali Abbasi, Peter Hoar, Jeremy Webb, and Liza Johnson are also serving as directors, with Carolyn Strauss, Evan Wells, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, and Rose Lam on board as executive producers.
