GHOSTS: Sheila Carrasco Previews a Cult Invading Woodstone B&B—and New Flower Backstory

The Woodstone B&B gets some new residents on the Thursday, October 13 episode of GHOSTS—but things quickly take a turn.

“We’re all very excited, as the ghosts, that Jay made friends, because he did have to leave his friends when he moved to Woodstone,” GHOSTS star Sheila Carrasco previews to Give Me My Remote. “Except little by little, what we find out about them, it sounds more and more like he’s falling in with a cult. And Flower, my character—who has a history of living in cults, living on communes, being a bit of a follower, and going with the flow—she’s a bit of a resident expert on cults. So she’s able to be helpful to Sam in pointing out the signs and also helping Jay navigate it.”

Of course, that doesn’t mean Flower isn’t wooed a bit, herself, by the group. “Oh, she’s all in from the get go,” Carrasco admits with a laugh. “She drinks the Kool-Aid immediately. There’s just something about Micah, the character that Drew Tarver plays; she’s just sucked in. I think she’s already a person that really…she says ‘yes’ with her whole heart. She’s not one to ever not give someone the benefit of the doubt. So, especially thinking that this might be a cult, she definitely wants to join it, because I think she’s not quite of the opinion yet that cults are bad—maybe she had a bad experience. And so I think that that’s also something she might learn this episode.”

Fans—and her housemates—will also dig a bit deeper into Flower’s past in “Jay’s Friends,” too. “She reveals that she had to cut her brother out of her life, because her brother wanted her to leave the cult that she was in,” Carrasco previews. “And it’s a little too personal of a story for her to get into, so the other ghosts help her come to some realizations about how wrong that might have been. And maybe there’s more she could find out about her brother—that she didn’t have to cut him out of her life.”

Unfortunately for the ghosts, there’s more trouble afoot in the episode: Pete (Richie Moriarty) declares he’ll change his wildly optimistic personality to appease new roommate Sasappis (Román Zaragoza). Naturally, it goes as well as expected.

“I think even Flower might be annoyed at Pete’s always sunny disposition,” Carrasco admits. “So I can’t blame Sasappis for the request that perhaps he tone it down a little. But I think how hard Pete commits to the change is absolutely hilarious. And Richie Moriarty is so, so funny—to see him play such a wildly different shade, as actors, is really fun to see. And so I’m really excited to see the edit of this.”

“I think everyone realizes by the end that we need Pete’s optimism, for sure,” she continues. “And that’s the lesson—don’t change for people.”
