In 2012, NBC debuted the Matthew Perry-led comedy GO ON. The series followed Perry’s Ryan King in the aftermath of his wife’s death, as he (eventually) learned to embrace a grief support group—it was charming, but dark; grounded, but genuinely funny. It served as a FRIENDS reunion for Perry and GO ON creator Scott Silveri, but also boasted its own impressive ensemble (featuring John Cho, Laura Benanti, Julie White, Suzy Nakamura, Tyler James Williams, Brett Gelman, Sarah Baker, Tonita Castro, Bill Cobbs, and Allison Miller).

The show had special preview for its premiere post-Olympics and was solid in its run, but NBC opted to not move forward with a second season. (The network notoriously canceled all six of its new comedy series after the 2012-2013 season, including one that filmed four episodes but never aired.)

In the decade since GO ON ended, it’s been difficult to find ways to watch the show: Though it was available via digital purchase (if you knew where to look), the only streaming home it got was its recent addition to The Roku Channel (where you can watch it free, with ads).

But in May, the series got an unexpected second life, of sorts: It (finally) got a proper DVD release.

“I’ve had the good fortune of my friends and my friends’ kids finding FRIENDS, and it buys me an ounce or two of capital with them on any given year,” Silveri told Give Me My Remote while participating in a FRIENDS writers’ room reunion in support of the ongoing WGA strike. “So if I could pump that up to two and a half ounces with GO ON, that would be a dream come true.”

“I don’t know when it shook out that they decided to put it on DVD, but I promise they will make a profit of it on it, because I’m going to go buy a million copies and give it out to everybody I know,” he continued. “It was such a fun show to do. There were so many great people involved in it. I keep in touch with a couple of them; Julie White, I talk to from time to time. Matthew, I talked to far too infrequently. But if all I get out of it is a little trip down memory lane for me, great. And if it could be introduced to a couple more people…I do feel like it’s one of those shows that…if you could get those numbers now it would run for 30 years. And you can play that game with so many different shows from back then.”

While it’s been a decade since the show ended, Silveri acknowledged he’d return to the world again in a heartbeat. “If they want to get the band back together, have NBC or literally anyone else call me—I’ll do it,” he said. “I’ll do it on network. I’ll do it on streaming. I’ll do it in the parking lot of Bob’s Big Boy, whatever they want.”
