QUANTUM LEAP Writers Tease the Final Episodes of 2023: ‘All Killer, No Filler’
November 15, 2023 by Marisa Roffman
Just three episodes are left of QUANTUM LEAP’s 2023 run—and big things are in store for the NBC drama.
“We’re on an incredible run of episodes,” co-showrunner Martin Gero tells Give Me My Remote. “It’s all killer, no filler this season.”
Up first is “Secret History,” airing Wednesday, November 15. “Episode 6 is probably one of the most fun episodes we’ve ever done,” Gero teases. “It marks the return of Eliza Taylor, in a way that we can’t talk about until the episode has aired. [Then] episode 7 is a phenomenal deep, deep dive back, adjacent to [the] Salem Witch Trials.”
The final episode of 2023 takes the team—and the show’s production—out of the country. “Episode 8, incredibly, our midseason finale, was shot on location in Egypt,” Gero says. “At the foot of the Sphinx of Giza, in Cairo. It has truly blockbuster scope. And that’s a Dean Georgaris-written episode, so you know it’s gonna be good; whenever you see that come up on the screen, get excited.”
Plus, co-showrunner Georgaris teases there may be going on than meets the eye. “One of the things we were able to do—that we were all really excited about and proud about—is the first eight episodes, to the midseason finale, tell one larger story,” he says. “And all our characters play a role. Every episode is a chapter, if you will. And I think the sum is greater than the parts.”
“By the time we’re talking about episode 8, and moving into episode 9 [which will air in 2024], I think the audience will hopefully feel that way to feel that way, too,” he continues. “[They’ll be like,] ‘Wow, we didn’t see certain things coming.'”
