About Last Night…GRIMSBURG, GOLDEN GLOBES, and THE GREAT NORTH

Let’s talk about Sunday night’s TV!

GRIMSBURG: This was a perfectly watchable pilot. (And a very pilot-y pilot.) Am I confused by Jon Hamm doing Will Arnett’s voice for the show? Absolutely. But I enjoyed the show, so far, and I’m curious to see what it’ll be when it settles into a groove now that the premise is set.

GOLDEN GLOBES: Did we need the GLOBES back? Probably not. Was it frequently an absolute mess last night? Oh, completely. There was one point where I actually hid in my sweatshirt hoodie, because the jokes were bombing so bad and it wasn’t done. And my goodness, some of the banter between presenters was more painful than normal.

But there were lovely bright spots. The SUITS reunion was cute, albeit awkwardly timed. (Why not have them all out at the same time to make the joke?) Loved seeing the GHOSTS stars.

THE GREAT NORTH: The most important thing: I have missed this show so much. This was not my very favorite episode—I know it’s an animated show trope to do installments like this, and it was perfectly fine. It just was not a top 10 episode for me. But, again, so happy to have them back.
