About Last Night…THE SIMPSONS, THE EQUALIZER, THE GREAT NORTH, and More

Let’s talk about Sunday night’s TV!
THE SIMPSONS: I am an absolute sucker for jokes like the $1OK versus $10K reading. Homer’s snark and sarcasm costing him $9,999? So funny.
But the episode also speaks to Homer’s core. He’s occasionally a doofus, but he’s ultimately a good guy who wants to be liked and loved, both by his loved ones and strangers. And, sometimes, in an attempt to get the love, he also becomes a human tornado. A really solid episode.
THE EQUALIZER: Before we get to the Big Thing, I wanted to note the episode itself was gorgeously shot. There were a number of scenes where it was just visually striking.
That being said: OH MY GOD.
If you read my recent interview with Tory Kittles, this may not have been the biggest surprise Dante and Robyn took this step. But I’m delighted the show played this card in the penultimate episode rather than the finale. Sure, we may still get a cliffhanger with the relationship, but at least we will see a little bit of the fallout before the summer break.
[For more on the episode, here’s what Kittles shared about Robyn/Dante.]
AMERICAN IDOL: Look, with all due respect to the guys, it should have been an all-female finale. Alas.
THE GREAT NORTH: Okay, this show should not make me so emotional! The kids trying to make Beef go to the doctor (or at least get him taken care of), while he was too afraid to go and face his own mortality and contend with having to lose them one day? My heart, man.
