WELCOME TO DERRY: Bill Skarsgård to Reprise Pennywise

Bill Skarsgård is returning to the world of IT—the actor will reprise his role of Pennywise (which he played in the films IT and IT CHAPTER TWO) for the upcoming Max series WELCOME TO DERRY, the streamer announced.

According to the streamer, “Set in the world of Stephen King’s IT universe, WELCOME TO DERRY (wt) is based on King’s IT novel and expands the vision established by filmmaker Andy Muschietti in the feature films IT and IT CHAPTER TWO.” Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, and Jason Fuchs are developing the show.

When the show was announced in 2023, King said in a statement, “I’m excited that the story of Derry, Maine’s most haunted city, is continuing, and I’m glad Andy Muschietti is going to be overseeing the frightening festivities, along with a brain trust including his talented sister, Barbara. Red balloons all around!”
