UNIVERSAL BASIC GUYS, BIG BROTHER, THE GREAT NORTH

THE GREAT NORTH: Judy tries to learn to drive. The rest of the family tries to finish a shocking jigsaw puzzle on the all-new “Worst Drives Club Adventure” episode of THE GREAT NORTH airing Sunday, Sept 8 (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. THE GREAT NORTH © 2024 by 20th Television and Fox Media LLC.

Let’s talk about Sunday night’s TV!

UNIVERSAL BASIC GUYS: Well, starting your first episode with a dead animal…is sure a choice.

BOB’S BURGERS: Aw, poor Rudy adjusting to his new normal. (Is it bad I’m jealous of them getting into the bowling machinery? Dangerous IRL, but looks fun on TV!)

BIG BROTHER: I’d like one week where I’m not baffled by the houseguests. Like Cam said, Chelsie is the one who not only flipped her vote, but also didn’t bother to tell him so he could decide whether he wanted to change his vote, too. But now she thinks he’ll save Leah or MJ over her?! Is this something that makes more sense if you’re watching the 24/7 feeds or is this just truly fueled by her complicated feelings toward him?

And, look, Chelsie trying to support Angela was actually very nice, even if it did solidify Angela going on the block.

But I just don’t get it. We see constant “trying to play for myself” when they make big moves, but so frequently it seems to be counterproductive. Chelsie and MJ saved Kimo because of his speech (?!), and backstabbed allies…to keep another player’s number one ally. We’ll see how this all shakes out.

THE GREAT NORTH: Aww, poor Judy—a rough double-header for her. But A) A merman gave her good advice and B) Alanis came down from the sky?!

(Also, LOL to the, um, risque puzzle.)

HOMICIDE: LIFE ON THE STREET:

“Dead End”: It’s crazy this was a three-parter when like half of the cops were recovering from serious gunshots. And following Munch, in particular, was fascinating because we got to see him working while battling against his own PTSD while also working with Bolander’s old partner.

Of course TPTB was trying to throw Al under the bus for the cops going to the wrong apartment number. I was worried Megan would do what was asked of her—she was between a rock and a hard place—but I’m very glad she didn’t.

But, my God, nothing broke me like Beau asking Lewis about what you do if your partner dies on you. OW, OW, OW. (Also gutting he felt too guilty to visit Kay.)

“End Game”: Well, it’s depressing as hell how timely that gun control rant was.

I had no Steve Buscemi would be tied up in this storyline, but, my goodness, he was fantastic at playing an absolutely abhorrent character. But, man, it’s always great to see Andre Braugher go toe-to-toe with someone in interrogation. (I’m sure there will be absolutely no fallout from Pratt ending up dead after shooting multiple cops! No siree!!!)

Frank and Munch’s tension was also fascinating to watch, because it’s honestly shocking it didn’t happen earlier in this arc. There is only so much they could take, both with trying to get justice for their friends and being helpless about actually fixing them. It was well done, and a blow-up that also shouldn’t forever change their dynamic.

I did love getting Kay and Beau bickering over who was a better shot. Need her to be okay, please and thank you.
