CHICAGO FIRE will be diving into Stella Kidd’s history this season…but whatever will be revealed, it’s still a mystery to series star Miranda Rae Mayo.

“I don’t know anything,” Mayo tells Give Me My Remote with a laugh. “I’m actually really excited—like, elated.”

Mayo has been playing the lieutenant since 2016, portraying Kidd’s personal and professional highs and lows, and getting to find out more about her backstory has the actress visibly beaming. But, Mayo also acknowledges with a laugh, “there’s aspects of it that might feel hilarious.”

“[With this new knowledge,] maybe I would have played this [past story or beat a] little bit differently,” she points out. “But that’s just what it is, playing a character on television for years and years and years. Things come up, and it’s a constant game of, ‘Yes, and.’”

What Mayo does know, however, is that she’s excited about what she has already filmed. “Something happens with the truck company that elated me, like elated,” she says, elongating the last word for dramatic effect. “So I am excited for people to see that. Also, episode 3, we see a badass stunt with Ritter’s character that I’m excited for people to see.”

“Ritter and Sam [B. Jackson’s Morris] are my favorite new couple on the show,” she continues. “I can’t wait to see more of their romance. I want to see them cuddled up. I want to see them on date nights. I want to see them smooching—I need more of them in my life and on my screen.”

Further ahead, “Oh my God, Mouch—Christian Stolte—has an incredible episode, episode 6,” Mayo teases. “And we have such a badass arc for Pascal and Severide in [episodes] 6 and 7.”

“It’s looking good this season,” she continues. “There’s a lot to be excited about. And, again, I’m just so grateful, so proud, and fortunate to be on the ride. Thank you forever to [the CHICAGO FIRE writers] for creating Stella, to [executive producer] Dick [Wolf] for having me. Forever grateful to be a part of this crew.”
