FBI: MOST WANTED Post-Mortem: Should Viewers Be Worried About Remy? Showrunner David Hudgins Weighs In

“I’m getting too old for this crap,” FBI: MOST WANTED’s Remy (Dylan McDermott) grumbled after being attacked—and watching the Fugitive Task Force’s perp die—on the Tuesday, October 15 season premiere, “Aquarium Drinker.”

The FBI agent was in a trance when he got home, but tried to put up a good front. Ultimately, he had to rest—“My head is ringing and my jaw is killing me.”—while noting to his girlfriend, Abby (Susan Misner), he felt like he was “falling apart.”

But was it a bad day? Or the start of something more? “What I wanted to do in that episode was to start off with a really bad, bad guy [with their case], and also ground it, because it’s a dangerous job these people do,” FBI: MOST WANTED showrunner David Hudgins tells Give Me My Remote. “In a lot of shows, there could be 50 shots going off and nobody ever gets hit. No, these people get hurt. It’s a dangerous job. He gets whacked at the end, as you saw, but he’s fine.”

“I think in that episode, maybe it came from me, where I am in my life,” he continues, before noting Remy’s physical issues will “go away.” “We just wanted to have a vulnerable moment with Abby there at the end. But it’s not setting up or teasing any bigger story; he’s fine. He’s not going anywhere. His story is about Abby this season.”

And, as viewers saw in the premiere, Remy’s romance with Abby has gotten serious off-screen given she’s spending one-on-one time with his sister.

“It’s been a while, they’re adults, and they hit it off immediately,” Hudgins notes of Remy and Abby, alluding to the duo’s quick physical relationship after they met. “They kind of went straight past go. But I think they love each other. The obstacle for them is, on Remy’s side, it’s one thing when you’re doing the long-distance thing; it’s quite another when all of a sudden you’re living together. So he’s got to make that choice—does he want to do that?”

“There’s a surprising answer when he does make that choice that pivots us to the rest of the season,” he continues. “But I felt like it’s been months since they’re together and they’re just together. And, yeah, she knows the sister, and she comes to town and they’re a [serious] thing in everything except name right now.”
