THE IRRATIONAL: Maahra Hill Ponders Marisa’s Potential Promotion
October 21, 2024 by Marisa Roffman
THE IRRATIONAL’s Marisa (Maahra Hill) was thrown for a loop on the most recent episode of the NBC drama when she found out—secondhand, from Kylie (Travina Springer), who was doing a bit of email snooping—that she was being tapped to be the new boss of her department.
“I think if it hadn’t been presented to her, I think it might have been a bit confusing,” Hill tells Give Me My Remote. “She’s earned that. She’s been on the force for 15 years, she’s a senior agent at this point. She knows what she’s doing, she’s confident in her abilities. So…it was an honor to be considered.”
“The other part was how does my life change or how does my job change and how does that feel?” she continues. “Because I’ve been doing this for the last 15 years. We don’t see she’s had enough of that [portion of her job]; she loves what she does. So there’s a decision to be made around leaving the past behind and the relationship she’s had with her work thus far and taking on this new frontier. I think it’s just her feelings about what she’s done with her work thus far and what potentially could be on the other side that would make her hesitate a bit. So we’ll see what she decides!”
Whether this promotion comes to pass, the possibility of it made Hill think about what her character might want, career-wise, in the future.
“The goals that she has right now I think are different than those that she would have, say, in the next five years or so,” she notes. “But she’s definitely considered going to the top of her field. She’s definitely considered being the Senior Agent in Charge, which is a SAC. She’s considered some political influence. She’s considered…anything that’s in the direction of making an impact and still being of service in a way that elevates her ability to do that.”
“The crux will always be the love she has for where she is and what she’s doing now and [whether she is] able to leave that behind,” she continues. “But one would hope there’s room for growth, for sure.”
