About Last Night…FBI, FBI: INTERNATIONAL, FBI: MOST WANTED, and More

FBI, FBI: INTERNATIONAL, FBI: MOST WANTED

“The Other Hard Part” – When a U.S. ambassador is taken hostage at a TV station in the Netherlands alongside 70 civilians, the Fly Team is forced to work quickly to find out who they’re up against. Meanwhile, Wes works to earn the respect of his new team, on FBI: INTERNATIONAL, Tuesday, Oct. 22 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs). Let’s talk about Tuesday night’s TV!

FBI: Look, I know Jubal is saying he wants to move home—and sleep on the couch—for the family and try to save money for the kids’* futures, but, boy, is this giving me a parallel to another, um….frequently not healthy marriage in the Wolf Entertainment universe. I give this a five percent chance of not leading to an actual reunion, even if it’s temporary.

Hey, we got CHICAGO MED vet Guy Lockard as OA’s vet buddy…who’s a mess. Sigh. OA, run!

I do love how the show is struggling to fill Scola’s partnership spot. We, ultimately, know who it will be, but it’s nice to see things not perfectly slot into place on-screen.

*Does this mean we’re going to see their daughter soon?

THE VOICE: Wow, absolutely surprised Mistermoon was not stolen. (Also, not sure if I love the coaches getting two steals versus a steal/save.) Also, it’s wildly hilarious Reba lied about her choice so she could steal the person she really wanted. Tricky, tricky, tricky.

FBI: INTERNATIONAL: Hi, Tank!!

Wes is really, really good with kids. The second half of the episode was so strong. While I definitely don’t want/need to see kids in danger in any kind of normal capacity on this show, it was such a great showcase for him in his first case as the team’s official leader. (Also, I knew Wes was a foster kid, but 12 homes? That must have been so destabilizing.)

THE IRRATIONAL: Absolutely hate seeing Rose and Alec on opposite sides of a case, but, man, I missed them working a case, too. (Also, showrunner Arika Lisanne Mittman is a woman of her word: She said if we got more episodes of the show, we might get singing! Watching Karen David perform made my GALAVANT-loving heart happy.)

FBI: MOST WANTED: Oh, God, this is a heartbreaking case. Top to bottom tragic. There are some cases where you’re like, okay, you’re just evil, but this…is not that.

This is also a really, really good (and terrifying) way to incorporate AI/deepfake tech into storytelling. Yeah, the technology isn’t always perfect, but it’s advanced enough to do real harm to us all. That’s scary as hell. And the girls’ quest to get justice for their friend, while understandable, led to another (accidental) death. It’s just so sad.

(I do love we’re getting little glimpses of Ray adjusting to parenthood. It’s not an easy transition, and has to be way harder with a teen. And even better his dad is a part of the mix, too.)
