Let’s talk about Wednesday night’s TV!

CHICAGO MED: The entire MK storyline was fascinating—I watch a lot of medical shows, and I can’t tell if I wiped that from my brain or if this is the first show that has told this kind of story (or used that kind of memorable phrasing)—both personally and professionally. “You just lied to a nun” made me laugh out loud. (Sorry, Ripley.) But she also gave him really needed advice about the Sully of it all, and I hope he was able to take it in.

I cannot express how glad I am Hannah got a win after the awful loss a few weeks back. I’m also really shocked, and so pleasantly surprised, that Goodwin tied in her conversation with Violet (on last week’s CHICAGO FIRE) to her plans for Hannah: bring a prenatal program to those who need it. I don’t know if it will lead to more actual crossovers, but I love that the worlds are connected in this small, but significant way.

And, man, that moment with Lenox on the floor with the kid? Her best moment on the show so far.

(The Halloween costumes were fun! I do wish we had gotten a bit more from them.)

THE FLOOR: Okay, that constellation round was painful. The “good” news, I guess, is that the time boost would have made zero difference.

How lucky were they that baseball team logos came up before the World Series? And how funny it was Dodgers and Yankees as the first two logos?! (Requisite: Go Dodgers, please and thanks.)

But oh my God, the moment of the episode was the contestant not getting ST. ELMO’S FIRE and Rob Lowe joking he was quitting. Not sure how you come back from that if you’re the contestant.

CHICAGO FIRE: Oh, hi Kevin Chapman! (I mean, his character was awful, but always lovely to see him.) And, of course, always great to see Stellaride working together.

I feel like I might be in the minority on this, but the Violet/Carver/Tori stuff is making me dislike both couples. Tori is obviously continuously a mess, but Carver lying to her and going to Violet’s birthday party behind her back was really dirty. And, yeah, Violet had the right to tell Carver about the text she sent that Tori deleted, but the timing of it…seemed like she actually wanted to cause more trouble for that relationship versus caring about being honest with him. (If it was the latter, she could have done it weeks ago.) Alas.

On the flip side, the platonic team-ups of Lizzy and Ritter and Ritter and Kylie were fantastic. Lizzy and Ritter were so unexpectedly funny, as they scrambled to get ahead of breaking Pascal’s award. And it was really lovely to see Ritter be a mentor of sorts to Kylie as she got used to her new job.

THE SUMMIT: No, seriously, the cliff is insane. Logically you can trust that you’ll be fine, that the safety harnesses will hold, but as someone who isn’t even afraid of heights…I think I might freak out, too.

This was definitely an episode that made me think about what season 2 of this show might look like. If you know you’re auditioning for this show, do you train a lot? Avoid it like the plague if you know you’re afraid of heights?

CHICAGO P.D.: I absolutely love that Cook came looking for Ruzek. They went through a really messed up experience together, and I love that she knew she could trust him to help her. And I love that with him at home Torres stepped up and offered his own help instead.

I also loved their dynamic. Cook held her cards close to the vest, but opened up enough. She made an impression on our guys, enough that they wanted her. I’m really excited to see what this squad dynamic looks like now that she’s officially a part of the team.

But, man, they were not kidding when they called it a rain episode. It was gorgeous. It added to the mood. And bravo to everyone involved for pulling it off; it’s not easy to do that as a crew, especially in network television, but wow.

(Also, equally impressive and WTF: THAT DEAD BODY WAS MESSED UP, GUYS. Even the shots in the promo didn’t properly prepare me for the actual scene. Nope. Nope, nope, nope.)

[For more on the episode, here’s what showrunner Gwen Sigan shared.]
