“Devil’s Night” – When a former child star turned party girl Mac (Brittany O’Grady) wakes up on Halloween after a wild night on the town with no recollection of her whereabouts and afraid she may have committed murder, Elsbeth and the team retrace her steps to find the truth. Meanwhile, Captain Wagner must address low morale at the precinct, on the CBS Original series ELSBETH, Thursday, Oct. 31 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs)*. As Elsbeth (Carrie Preston) tries to help a starlet figure out if she was involved in a murder on the Thursday, October 31 episode of ELSBETH, the lawyer has another quirk in store: “In the Halloween episode, Elsbeth spends the entire episode in costume,” showrunner Jonathan Tolins tells Give Me My Remote.

But it’s not all treats in the hour: Wagner (Wendell Pierce) has to deal with the lingering ramifications of his right-hand man being a part of a conspiracy to frame the captain in crimes.

“Even though it’s unfair, his officers in the precinct are unhappy after what happened with Dave Noonan, who they were all close to,” Tolins previews. “And even though it’s unfair, they blame Captain Wagner. He’s going to have to do things that feel out of character to him to repair the morale in the precinct.”

While “Devil’s Night” might have some ups and downs for the characters, there is another holiday around the corner: Christmas. (The show’s Christmas episode airs Thursday, December 5.)

“The Christmas episode, it overlaps with SantaCon, which is something that people in New York know about,” Tolins previews. “[And] Elsbeth has a surprising attitude toward Christmas this year because of who she is going to not be able to spend it with.”

Might viewers learn more about Elsbeth’s son (or other loved ones) this year? The showrunner is coy, but does allow: “You will be hearing more—and maybe even meeting more people.”

ELSBETH, Thursdays, 10/9c, CBS
