Let’s talk about Sunday night’s TV!

THE SIMPSONS: I loved this episode. I mean, look, to be fair/clear, I watched it for the first time pre-election; that last segment feels a lot more grim now. But. I loved it. A really great use of the “Treehouse of Horror Presents” title.

What was also so fun about them was how well they fit the show and the characters planned. “The Screaming Woman” was perfect for Bart…a boy who cried wolf (which, yes, the show did a subplot like this—in a literal sense—a billion years ago, but this felt different), but was serious here. Skinner and Chalmers both have reasons not to want to deal with each other. And, yeah, Springfield being forced to watch only prestige TV? Torture. (And, yes, I laughed at the namedrop to Alan Sepinwall.)

THE EQUALIZER: Man, so many people wanted to kill (or, like, seriously mess up) the stand-up. And I get it hurts when someone talks about you that way, but…yikes. I did love that Mel was back with the team and was able to figure out what was going on.

(Thank GOD Aunt Vi is fine.)

May or may not have written “OH MY GOD JUST KISS AND MAKE UP” in my notes about Robyn and Dante. I get where they’re both coming from, things are complicated, but wouldn’t it be nicer to have each other’s backs and be a steady support for each other rather than dancing around things?

BOB’S BURGERS: This is weird note, but I did love how they animated the waves. That can’t be easy to get the look right—it’s not like you can get it hyper-realistic—but they looked cute. And, aw, Bob convincing Louise they should actually really boogie board despite his past trauma…and they came in fourth! (A win in their book.)
