The Office Thursday on Give Me My Remote
November 30, 2006 by Kath Skerry
It’s been two weeks since we last saw our favorite Office workers. Remind me again how we got through the summer? The countdown has begun to an all new episode of The Office…just hours to go. As always,GMMR is here with all the Office gossip. A Thursday just isn’t a Thursday without Office Thursdays on Give Me My Remote.
As always, check back for updates throughout the day. On we go….
Tonight’s Episode – “The Convict”…
There’s an ex-con in the office and Michael’s determined to be supportive – once he discovers their identity. Meanwhile, Andy makes a move on Pam with a little help from Jim. Prepare yourself for some super cringeworthy moments, after all it was written by original UK Office creators Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. I was lucky enough to see an advanced screener, so make sure you check out my review of The Office: The Convict (warning, minor spoilers)
From the desk of Meredith Palmer…
Kate Flannery has penned another great blog for TVGuide.com. Check out her thoughts on working with Gervais/Merchant and find out which one of her co-stars she thinks is a “genius”. As always, please make sure you leave Kate some love on her blog by leaving a comment. If you have nothing to say, then just let her know that everyone at GiveMeMyRemote.com loves her! (Read Kate’s blog)
This week, USA Today’s Pop Candy interviewed Kate about her role as Meredith, how she got the part and her comedy act The Lampshades. You can listen to the interview online right now, just click here.
Michael Scott’s Words of Wisdom?….
Business 2.0 magazine knows who to turn to for sage business advice – Michael Scott. Michael talks to the magazine about the finer points of employee motivation. Here’s an example of the genius of this man: “The three keys to motivating your staff are love (positive reinforcement), fear (negative enforcement) and chocolate (chocolate reinforcement)” (Read the fully story at The Office LJ Community)
As an added bonus, check out this great video of Paul Lieberstein (Toby) as he talks about Michael’s business philosophies while taking us on the tour of Dunder Mifflin.
MORE Office Thursday after the jump!
Brian Baumgartner is NOT Kevin Malone…
To really appreciate the talent of some actors, you have to see them out of character. That’s the case with office lump Kevin Malone played by the fantastic Brian Baumgartner. Unlike Kevin, Brian has a lot of energy and a fantastic personality. And i can’t get over how different Brian sounds from Kevin. Check out Brian’s appearance on The Megan Mullally Show.
Getting to know Ms. Angela…
The Boston Herald has a great little story on the Office worker with a great caboose, Ms. Angela Kinsey. Well they are really talking to the actress that plays Angela, Angela Martin. But Angela talks about Angela. Wait I’m confusing myself. Anyway, check it out.
“I come from a long line of fighters” (Dwight K. Schrute)…
Rainn Wilson will be writing and starring in Bonzai Shadowhands, a movie about a “once-great ninja living in mediocrity“. The movie will be directed by Jason Reitman (Thank You for Smoking). The idea of seeing Rainn Wilson play a ninja is just too much to take in. We saw the hilarity of him at the DoJo, so this could be out of control funny. And I love thought of Rainn sitting down to write it…too awesome for words. (Read more at Pajiba)
Deleted Scenes from “The Merger”…
Hmmm, with all the deleted scenes released after every episode, I have to wonder what will be left for the S3 DVDs. Well, I guess we will cross that bridge when we come to it. NBC now has 8 deleted scenes from “The Merger” available, as well as some great cast interviews, including some with newbies, Ed Helms and Rashida Jones. Rather than try to find them on your own, click here and head to Office Tally, Tanster made it super easy.
LIVE Office Chat with GMMR TONIGHT…
As we do every Thursday, we will be having our LIVE Office chat over at BuddyTV.com during the East Coast airing of the show (we get started around 8pm EST). I’ve received a lot of emails from you asking me if we were going to have another cast member appearance soon…since the first one was such a blast. I’ll be sure to let them all know, but I think it’s going to be tough with everyone on hiatus. I’ll see what I can do.(Click here to set a reminder for the LIVE Office Chat at BuddyTV.com)
A Tribute to Kelly Kapoor…
Come on, admit it. How many of you would absolutely love to have Kelly Kapoor story hour? I’d personally love to gossip with Kelly. We could talk about Suri, Shiloh, new BFF’s Brit & Paris, and I think it’s about time someone filled in Kelly on what’s going on with Jim & Pam. I think she could be of great service, agreed?
So in honor of all things Kelly, this week’s Office Thursday feature video is “A Tribute to Kelly Kapoor”

Give the Gift of “The Office”…
I have always believed that if I were to work at Dunder Mifflin, Kelly and I would be talking all day long. And possibly shopping…
I am super excited for tonight’s episode. For the first time this season I am spoiler free. We’ll see how long I can keep that up tonight while the east coast chat at buddytv is going on, but I plan on having lots of will power. GMMR…thanks for sticking with Office Thursdays. There are always a few articles or clips that I miss during the week and it is great to have them all in one place.
I loved the Kelly video 😀 Hilarious. Thanks for posting that GMMR!
yet another great The Office Thursday!!
best yet this season.
🙂
Ok, this is just random, but seeing Jim Mosby’s comment, I got to thinking. Who would win in a battle? Jim Halpert, Jim Mosby, or Ted Mosby? My vote goes to the glorious Jim, because I’m sure he can come up with some kind of look that will just make the other two surrended right away. But I’m not biased, Jim can do anything.
Of course I’m going to go with Jim Halpert on this one. BUT, I’d love to see Jim, Marshall, and Ted be buds. Barney….he could stick around, but he’d be more friends with Andy.
WOW, The Office was hilarious. I don’t know which was funnier: Andy trying to hit on Pam or Prison!Michael!
Andy hitting on Pam no doubt the best. Pig latin. Good lord, I watched that 10 times.
I’m going to give that fight to Halpert. Ted is a smaller guy, and I’d be afraid to hit Halpert. Anyways, I’d be afraid of hitting Halpert and ruining his good looks, as I’d then have throngs of angry women ready to kill me. HAHA.
GMMR, great idea. It’s a shame we’ll never see an HIMYM/Office cross over. Haaaave you met Pam? Swarley meets Dwigt. Legendary games of Jinx. Anyways……
Hil-fargin-larious!! I loved this episode.
– Dwight waving an ass full of money at Martin
– atwhay oday ouyay inkthay ampay?
– the 2.5 pound weights in Michael’s trunk
– and ALWAYS Andy singing, may that be in every episode!!
And of couse *sigh* Jim and Pam. A thing of beauty to have that back.
I can almost picture Jim like the Heroes, what ever you do to him, he just goes back to regular form, maybe like the cheerleader, only he’s a really sexy man.
We need to focus on saving Jam, save the world. If I can’t make out with Jim, Pam surely better be doing it. I think I will throw up, as much as I think Karen is OK, the moment they show those two kissing.
Sigh.
I’m a newbie. Whats JAM?
Welcome to GMMR and The Office. JAM is just a little nickname for Jim and Pam. Like Brangelina.
