Joss Whedon Working at “The Office”
January 9, 2007 by Kath Skerry
Buffy creator Joss Whedon has just been added to the esteemed list of guest directors that will be stopping by the offices of Dunder Mifflin this season. Esteemed director Harold Ramis directed last month’s Christmas episode of The Office, and JJ Abrams is scheduled to direct an episode that is scheduled to air in February.
The rumors of Joss’s “Office”-debut were circulating around the internet earlier today, but GMMR just got EXCLUSIVE confirmation from a source in Scranton that YES, Whedon was scheduled to direct. That being said, I was also informed that “nothing is ever final until it happens”. But this one sounds like it’s on. The episode will be a mini-reunion of sorts, as Whedon has previously worked with David Denman (Roy) who played Skip on another Whedon creation, Angel.

OH, WOW.
talk about two worlds colliding!!!!!!! YES!
That’s amazing news! I love that The Office is attracting all these talented directors who want to work on the show. I’d love for the writer of the ep that Joss Whedon is directing to have Dwight make some kind of Buffy reference. 😉
This is just… neat. I’d be afraid if he was writing an episode though. Goodness knows who would end up dead. 🙂 Joss knows all about bringing the pain.
YAY!!!! I’ve been waiting for this to happen right when I found out Joss was a fan of the show. Buffy the vampire slayer/Angel, and The Office are my favorite shows and the man himself is going to direct. YES! I’m crossing my fingers on this one, I want it to happen.
Yeah David Denman and Joss will reunite, I forgot about that. Also, if Amy Adams (Katie) were still on the show that’d be a mini reunion too cuz she had a small part on Buffy. I think she played Tara’s cousin or sister in season 5. I know you Buffy/Office fans know what I’m talking about.
On a side note about Joss Whedon he’s been working on an amazing run of the X-men comics “Astonishing X-men.” This may not be the site to go off on the greatness of it … but it’s a pretty damn good arc.
Yeah, I know of Whedon’s greatness by reading comics (never actually watched Buffy).
So I have to admit that I would be more excited to hear he was writing for a show I liked (maybe Lost?) rather than directing, although I’m sure he’ll do a find job.
I’m thisclose from jumping up and down and saying EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!! but that might scare the cat.
Have I ever mentioned that if The Office was a person I’d marry it?
Amy Heckerling also directed an episode the first season.
If I remember my useless trivia correctly, Joss is good friends with Jenna Fisher’s husband, too – the character Gunn on “Angel” was named for him.
The Whedon-verse is wide and great. 🙂
My two favorite shows EVER. This is going to rock.
