The Cast of GLEE Perform on THE X FACTOR

December 5, 2010 by

Talk about international superstars! The cast of GLEE recently performed on Britain’s THE X FACTOR to a standing ovation. The cast sounded fantastic as they killed it with an old but oh so goodie, “Don’t Stop Believin'”. Even Simon Cowell seemed to enjoy it.

Sadly Chris Colfer (Kurt) was unable to join his co-stars in London. He tweeted the reason for his absence, saying: “I won’t be performing on the X-Factor with the other Gleeks! I had to stay and film scenes with the Warblers. Lot’s of cool stuff coming up!“. He also sent a little reminder note to his friends: “I expect my co-stars to bring me back enough “William & Kate” merchandise to fill a small house.” I’m sure they will oblige.”

As a Brit who watches XFactor, I loved this – and I may have honestly squealed when they took to the stage.

  2. Teebee on December 6th, 2010 4:44 am

They were fabulous and I’m just gutted I’m going to miss the tour.

TeeBee – I’m missing the tour too (my bank balance is very low) and this just made me wish i could go.

Lea Michelle always sounds AMAZING when she performs live. Studio recordings don’t do her big voice justice.

  5. Meg on December 7th, 2010 6:44 pm

Wow! They are amazing live performers! That exact performance would totally win Sectionals πŸ™‚

I love how Amber went right up to Simon’s face and started belting those notes and showing him her talent. Amber auditioned for American Idol here in the states but didn’t make it through. Her singing to Simon looked like her way of rubbing it in his on how famous she is now.

  7. Tim on December 9th, 2010 3:45 pm

Cool…but when are they coming to Canada ??

  8. Heidi on December 9th, 2010 3:47 pm

How F’ing stupid, so people in the USA can watch a UK show on youtube, but I in the UK can’t watch a UK show……

  12. Lindy on December 9th, 2010 3:57 pm

Wow, some of them were MEGA auto-tuned. That was so sad to hear… and distracting too. I think they are good enough singers to go without it! Finn and Artie were the worst.

    Enough with the auto-tune!

  13. Lindy on December 9th, 2010 3:59 pm

and by “Finn and Artie were the worst” I mean they were the obvious most auto-tune of them all, not that they are the worst singers. Just to clarify!

  14. Jay on December 9th, 2010 4:09 pm

heidi i agree with you, when i watched it i was expecting to see chris colfer aka kurt hummel.

  15. Ana on December 9th, 2010 5:01 pm

@ Lindy… I personally thought Dianna Agron sounded the worst, and by worst i mean, terrible LOL. Don’t get me wrong i love her but shes clearly the most auto-tuned of the bunch.

    LOVED this performance!

i think they sound awesome πŸ™‚ love it

  17. John on December 9th, 2010 5:15 pm

Like Jim, i also love when Amber sing the note on Simon’s face.
    Gotta love Glee!!!!

  18. Sharon on December 9th, 2010 5:44 pm

This was amazing (of course)!! πŸ˜€ I never get tired of them they’re all so good.

They are all great, but why do they keep making them do public appearances in character? Who are they, Hannah Montana? The actor who plays Artie, Kevin McHale, does not need a wheelchair, they are not highschoolers, and it seems like people would be just as glad to see them singing as themselves. They are all very talented young actors and really don’t need the pretence.

@Jim–Yes, I heard that too–that Amber was turned down for AI– good for Amber!!

  21. Kai-Dee on December 9th, 2010 8:00 pm

I cannot agree more with what Amber did to Simon. It was SUPER BAMF…

  22. Megan on December 9th, 2010 8:02 pm

They should have made dianna a new dress

  23. edna gadil on December 10th, 2010 12:06 am

what about australia? when are you coming down under?

  24. Helen Burke on December 10th, 2010 10:03 am

I know what you mean about Artie but I think it’s the people he represents that make it important for him to be in the chair. Even though he is not disabled, I’m sure it makes those who are feel good to be represented with this FABULOUS GROUP of talented people. At least, that why I think he continues to be portrayed this way. This GLEE represents so many good things, Artie is just one of them. I must say KURT, – Glee is not complete without you.

I have to say waited all day sunday for this to come out on youtube and was not disappointed. Kudos to Amber for belting out the note in front of Simon.

@Lindy Although I appreciate your opinion, Finn and Artie (Cory Monteith and Kevin Mchale) actually are NOT autotuned, AT ALL.
From 2004 to 2008 Kevin Mchale was in a music group of his own and did a few of his own live events and tours before he became a member of Glee. He’s a very good singer and has a very nice voice all on its own. He was probably either having trouble singing AND wheeling at the same time, or just nervous to sing in front of Simon, lol.
And maybe Cory Monteith might not be the best male voice in the cast, but I’ve been to a live event in Chicago and he sounded just great.
So please don’t compare them to autotuned trash like Ke$ha and others:)

  30. Andreja on January 1st, 2011 11:00 pm

They are not autotuned. It is such a shame we live in a society where autotuning is so common among musicians that we are so paranoid everyone else is autotuned. If the producers and creaters of the show glee had to autotune their actors/singers voices why would they even chose them for a singing/dancing/acting show? They are good. Very good might I add. And Cory Monteith sounded like he does on the album! What was wrong with how he sung? He did a fantastic job. Cory Monteith doesn’t even come from a singing background he’s definitely improved his performances live I still think he did great. And with Kevin being in the wheel chair, it’s much more difficult to sing while being seated. Your lungs are not fully opened. I think they all did great. Dianna Agron was the weakest out but we didn’t really hear much of her anyway it was being shadowed by Cory’s voice when they sung that together. Actually watch them live then judge them. They are fantastic, good work.

  31. Sam on January 3rd, 2011 2:45 pm

Dianna Agron has a decent voice, but not the strongest. It is good enough to sing lead but she never had a very strong voice. Before this show she was known for her acting and modest singing ability. Why critcize her for not being the next Madonna? She is very good at what she does, and is a very creditable singer. Cory Monteith is never going to be a great singer, but he can carry a tune and is a good singer. What is it that people expect of him? He never sang a note publically before joining Glee, and with that, he is doing a fanatstic job putting himself out there week after week. The big singers of the bunch are always going to be (from their backgrounds) Lee Michelle, Chris Cofer, Kevin McHale (in a band previously), Mark Salling (also in a band previously) and from American Idol, Amber Riley. When the cast of Glee was set up, the actors were judged on their acting ability, singing ability, and dancing ability. Dance was the lowest in importance but some coordination had to be demonstrated in the tryouts. That is why in season 1, most of the stars could not dance… they learned in training throughout the season. Those who were not the above mentioned “advanced” singers, also had singing lessons. One thing is for sure, everyone on this show is working very hard to improve themselves for their roles. Cory Monteith was autotuned early on in Season 1 but he is not any longer, as his singing has improved to the point where he can sing without help the parts he is assigned. They also added to the male cast so that there are alternatives to sing lead besides Cory.
