May 11, 2011 by Marisa Roffman
According to multiple reports, NBC has made their first series orders for the new television season.
As expected, the network has picked up Maria Bello-led PRIME SUSPECT, an adaption of the popular British miniseries. Also scoring a spot on the lineup is SMASH, a musical drama about the makings of a Broadway show, starring Debra Messing, Katharine McPhee, Jack Davenport, Anjelica Huston. Adding more cred to SMASH? Steven Spielberg produced it.
On the comedy side, NBC has ordered an untitled new comedy starring Christina Applegate and Will Arnett, plus another untitled comedy starring comedian Whitney Cummings.
