Watchlist: Monday, March 5, 2007
March 5, 2007 by Kath Skerry
In case you couldn’t tell by my lack of updates, I’m still in California. I’ll be here throughout the week. I am still in desperate need of a Slingbox since I seem to be missing some amazing television. Yeah, an HUGE episode of Battelstar Galactica last night…and I missed it (Jo’s recap coming shortly). Soon enough I’ll be settled with this whole bi-coastal thang.
Prison Break – Sweet Caroline
In Chicago, Michael has an encounter with President Reynolds (Patricia Wettig), and Sara has one with Mahone while C-Note performs his part of the bargain with Mahone. At the Mexico City airport, Bellick spots T-Bag.
Heroes– Parasite
Nathan meets Linderman in person just before the election; Hiro goes for the sword again with dire consequences; Suresh makes a breakthrough on “the list”; another person with powers, Candice Wilmer (Missy Peregrym), shows up.
24 – Day 6: 5:00 PM-6:00 PM
An attempted coup d’état rattles the Palmer administration, and Jack warily accepts an offer of help from former president Logan (Gregory Itzin). Noah Daniels: Powers Boothe. Yuri Suvarov: Nick Jameson. (Watch a scene from tonight’s episode).
The Black Donnellys– A Stone of the Heart
Sean’s fate becomes clear to the Donnelly siblings; an antsy Jimmy stews in a holding cell; an unsettled Tommy finds comfort in Jenny; Nicky grasps control of the Italian mob.
Let’s Talk about The Black Donnellys…
So since I’ve been traveling we haven’t had much time to chat about The Black Donnellys. Sadly I missed the premiere episode last Monday night, but I was able to catch the encore episode later in the week and I was really impressed. That’s saying a lot considering I wasn’t even enjoying it the first 30 minutes. Like most premiere episodes, I thought they tried to force too much plot and background on us. I wasn’t buying the neighborhood and I couldn’t keep track of the Donnelly boys. But…oh yes, there is a but – the ending was SO good that I personally can’t wait to watch tonight’s episode. Since a recap isn’t possible without a TiVo, I’ll try to take some notes so we can talk about it tomorrow morning.
So did you all watch The Black Donnellys? What did you think about it? If you didn’t watch it last week, click here to watch the premiere episode for free on NBC.com
Don’t let The Black Donnellys be the show you WISH you watched from the beginning. I think this might turn out to be a great out.

yay i love monday night tv
I felt the same way as you but the ending really sucked me in. I will definitely give it a few tries but I think I am going to like it once they get settled into regular shows (premieres can be so difficult).
I really liked it.
I completely agree that it was difficult to understand who was who…they shouldn’t introduced each character’s name with them as children. Too confusing. But, oh, the ending! I am going to give this show a chance based solely upon the last 10 minutes of the premiere 🙂
i didn’t get into it 🙁
I really liked the show. The first half reminded me of A Bronx Tale, while the last half reminded me of The Sopranos. I will definitely be tuning in to see what happens.
Monday night TV rocks! I don’t think i can add another TV show. I am already lacking any time in my life as it is. I saw Heroes-Parasite this morning (thank you Canada). It Rocks!!
Melissa, I’m so jealous. I have to wait until tonight to watch Heroes! I really love that show.
You may want to mention that iTunes has the first episode of the Black Donnelly’s up for FREE to download for those of us that missed it and want to catch up 🙂
I guess I’m the only one who thought the pilot blew. Granted, the last 10 minutes were pretty compelling, but I found absolutely nothing redeeming about any of the brothers, even Tommy, the “good one”. They are all physically unappealing, complete losers, and didn’t appeal to me on any level. I was really excited for this pilot (I am ridiculously Irish, down to the red hair and freckles) and I was hoping for some good music, interesting characters, and good plot lines. IMO, all I got was has stereotypes, bad writing and hurried plots. I plan to give it one more chance, just in case it was just the writers trying to shove too many things down our throats at once, but my expectations are low.
Since Paul Haggis is a complete and utter hack (this is the guy who brought us Walker, Texas Ranger) and the show getting absolutely killed on Ain’t it Cool I really doubt this will be the show I wished I saw from the beginning.
Wake me up when Studio 60 is back on.
I was a little… confused. I wrote about my experience on my blog, sounds similar to yours.
Monday night is crazy for TV… Heroes AND Prison Break AND now the Black Donnellys? Which could be terrible?

Hey, was just wondering… since you went to the Paley Festival, any dress code? I’m going this Friday and it’s my first time to attend one, so, I don’t want to be under/over dress. What should I wear? Lol. Thanks a lot! 🙂
I enjoyed the first episode. The ending did rock and it helps that I find Tommy and Kevin VERY attractive. 😉 I haven’t completely made up my mind about it yet, but tonight’s episode should be the deciding factor.
Crap. Just what I need. More pretty boys to watch on tv. I think this show has some serious potential. Plus, anything that has Jonathan Tucker hosing himself down, I’m in. Tighty-whity’s never looked so good.
I got sucked into The Black Donnellys against my will. But I loved the pilot and tried to recruit many others to see it as well. I enjoy the sublte humor injected with the compelling drama. Especially when Joey Ice Cream inserts himself into the story as an afterthought, like he did tonight. Brilliant.
I have to agree with Mary (comment #10), except Tommy is quite physically appealing, IMO. But all the characters are total low-life scum bags and apparently have been since they were kids. Anyway, then end of show #1 was kinda of surprising so I watched it again last night to give it a second chance. Ugh, it was so overly gratuitously bloody and the characters are so unappealing. They are all sociopaths — even the Mom who made some comment about ‘If someone is good you know it in your belly and if they have to do something bad you have to trust that they had no other choice.’ Give me a break! If they were my family, I’d totally turn them all in. Of course, they’d probably have me killed from jail and beat my dead body with a sledgehammer until it was small enough to stuff in a barrel then dump it in the river.
I thought it was just okay, but I couldn’t get past the fact that the oldest brother was Smalls from Sandlot. Too goofy for me.
I love it! TBD has definitely been added to my favourites. 🙂
