THE SECRET CIRCLE: Andrew Miller Talks About Fan Reaction to the Big Death

Way to keep us on our toes, THE SECRET CIRCLE.

After the six kids bound their circle together, I thought for sure they’d be safe from death at least for the season. Cut to last week and the series killed off one of the young series regulars pictured above.

With the show’s first major death out of the way, I hopped on the phone with TSC executive producer Andrew Miller earlier today to see how fans had been reacting in light of Nick’s demise.

“Very passionately,” Miller laughed. “I’ve been overwhelmed with the response — at least the response that I see, which is really not scientific, but because I’m obsessed with Twitter, I tend to see a lot of different things. I’m touched and astounded at the outpouring of emotion and sadness and surprise and anger…it’s been shocking. We see a little bit of fan response and we see some really amazingly creative ‘ship videos on Tumblr and stuff, but you don’t really get to see some of these truer feelings until something major happens.”

“So it’s definitely taken us by surprise,” he continued. “But ultimately, I’m grateful and overwhelmed that people invested so much in the show and the character. As painful as it was for us to lose Nick, the character, and Louis [Hunter (Nick)], who’s an amazing actor we all loved, it’s been amazing to see how strongly people associated with him and really liked him. In that sense, it’s been oddly gratifying.”
