About Last Night…MODERN FAMILY, HAPPY ENDINGS, LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT and More
October 20, 2011 by Marisa Roffman
Comedies, comedies and…a drama about sex crimes. Well, at least I keep things varied, right?
Let’s talk about Wednesday night TV!
While I’m enjoying SUBURGATORY — and appreciate that Tessa hasn’t just willingly accepted life in the suburbs so early in the series — I really hope they don’t immediately dive into a Dallas and George relationship any time soon, which I fear they might after last night’s episode. Am I alone in that?
There is so much to love about MODERN FAMILY. Phil taking his daughter to his old college was predictably (yet hilariously) awkward-amazing. Of course Claire would spend her one night of freedom partying with her gay friends and bond instantly with a handsome man — who happened to be the one straight dude in the room. But, um, if we could not have to think about Manny potentially masturbating, that would be awesome. As Gloria said, he’s a little boy!! (Fun fact: MODERN FAMILY writer Danny Zuker was the man in the tag scene who had the same car as Cam and Mitchell.)
I think Wednesday’s episode might have been my favorite HAPPY ENDINGS installment to date. Pedal to Petal?! Someone trademark that name and build that business, pronto! And while Penny’s vision board caused all sorts of trouble, how many of you wanted to start one ASAP?
I think I was one of three people in America who haven’t seen THE HANGOVER, so I was a little worried I wouldn’t totally “get” PSYCH‘s homage to it. While I’m sure there were jokes and references I missed, there was something undeniably fun about the hour. Poor Gus still can’t get a girl who isn’t bad news, but at least he got a crazy night out with Shawn, Lassiter and Woody. (Can we team them up more often?!)
Despite having a slight issue with how LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT handled Elliot’s departure, I’ve really enjoyed this season. The series has had some problems in the past with introducing new characters (sorry, Lake), but Amaro and Rollins have fit in well and the cases have been really strong. I felt terrible for the parents in last night’s episode, but it was fascinating that the show got SIDS to trend worldwide on Twitter.
AMERICAN HORROR STORY is sitting on my DVR completely due to lack of hours in the night to watch TV. Did you guys enjoy it? (And if you did, did you weigh in on Ben’s recap of the hour?)
I’m also still behind on REVENGE, but I’m hearing nothing but raves about the show. Are any of you guys watching it?
Let me know what you guys watched last night!
