LOST Season Finale Redux (SPOILERS)
May 24, 2007 by Kath Skerry
SPOILER ALERT! This post contains MAJOR spoilers for the season finale of LOST.
What in holy hell did I just watch? I think it was the season finale of LOST but I’m so stunned it’s hard to say. That was…wow…just wow. Talk about a show coming full circle and returning to the greatness of its roots. I mean, everything we know about Lost just got turned upside down in a brilliant 2 hours of television.
I’ll be honest, it’s about 2am and I’m not even going to pretend to write a recap, because what I’m feeling right is so beyond tired that I probably won’t make any sense. But here are some OMG….WTF moments and questions from tonight’s season finale (in no particular order).
– R.I.P. Charlie Pace. I’ll give you this – you are one selfless little bugger. First you risk life and limb to help Frodo and tonight you let yourself drown in order to save Clare and Aaron. DRIVE SHAFT 4-eva
– If Naomi wasn’t from Penny’s rescue team then who is she and how did she know about Desmond? Was Ben right in telling Jack that she was a “bad guy” or was he just manipulating the system again?
– YAY to Hurley for saving the day. I felt bad for the dude since he got rebuffed for two weeks in a row because of his size. Well guess what, he saved your 6-pack abs Sawyer so suck it.
– Um, they get off the island (more on that in a bit)
– Jack told Kate that he loved her and that wasn’t even the most dramatic moment of the show…go figure
– Alex and Danielle were reunited. Nice but a little long overdue.
– Ben is perhaps the most intriguing character on all of TV today. Agreed? And bravo to Michael Emerson for his brilliant portrayal of this devil/angel
– We know that Kate and Jack leave the island. We also know that despite their bond and all they’ve been through together, they are estranged later in life. But why? What is something that happened on the island or after they were rescued that separated these two?
– Talk about a growth spurt. Walt sure hit puberty while on the island. He grew at least 5 or 6 inches and his voice changed…all in 90 or so days. I guess Peter Brady was right when he said “when it’s time to change….”
– Bernard, Rose said not to be Rambo, but I guess she forgot to mention that she didn’t want you to be an idiot either.
– Sayid killed a man by snapping his neck with his legs. There was a chick in the Double Dragon video games that could do that too…she was my favorite.
– The future flashbacks, or I guess we should say flashforwards? Hello…genius! I actually kind of got that Jack was in the future right away, but I was still intrigued as to what was said in that newspaper that set him off. I did my best to pause the DVR to read what the paper said. The Lost folks are pretty damn good but the clipping did say that a man was killed downtown. And I am pretty sure the first line said “The body of J…”. I’m going to try to go back and look at it again tomorrow, but I think the guy’s name begins with a “J”. But is it James “Sawyer” Ford or John Locke? Either’s death could have put Jack on this emotional downward spiral. My spec? Jack got them rescued off the island and as predicted by Ben he had nothing waiting for him on the other side. Jack also forced Locke to leave the island, which of course lead to him being paralyzed again. Locke lived the rest of his life as a miserable cripple and died alone. Jack blames himself for forcing Locke to leave the island.
– Why was Jack so eager to find his way back to the island? Was it because he had nothing live for back in the “real world” or was it his need to right a wrong? Something tells me Jack has to make a decision during the rescue which results in leaving people behind. Live together, Die Alone. It’s Jack’s own words coming back to haunt him. He couldn’t do what it takes to ensure they all lived together, so he’s going to die alone.
Sorry for the randomness of this post but I had to get up something so we can start chatting about it. What did you all think of the episode? And let’s play LOST spec, shall we? My first question is: how much longer in S4 do you think the Losties will remain on the island? Will they be rescued within the first few episodes or will they be stuck on the island for nearly the whole season? Do you think these future flashforwards will continue into next season? And finally? Just wondering if anyone happens to know if it’s February 2008 yet? See that’s when LOST comes back and I’m kind of hoping it’s sooner than it sounds in my head.

Let the Hiatus from Hell begin! I’m already on one for BSG…why not add yet another show? Blah.
I thought this was a good finale, if not a tad predictable. I want to know who dies in the flash forward and why Walt aged so quickly LOL And d@mnit, what is that foot statue?!
Oh yeah that foot statue… I’m still curious.
Okay, how’s this. I’m guessing that all of season 4 is flash-forwards. That we don’t know exactly what happens during the rescue, but we see the results and the aftermath. I think that would be kinda cool, and it might breath some fresh air into the show (’cause the finale was awesome, right?).
I think for most of the characters, their lives are monumentally better on the island than what they were in the real world–Hurley doesn’t have bad luck, Claire gets to be with Aaron, Kate’s not in jail, Sun is pregnant, Locke’s not paralyzed, and so on. I think they could have lots of material if they show how the rescue altered their lives.
But. Whatever happens, I think the finale renewed my faith in the show. Which is exactly what I needed after I’ve sworn Grey’s off forever.
Also, can I just say how heartbreaking this episode was?? I cried three times, I think. I mean, Charlie… Geez! And the very end. Ugh.
I’m rallying for the return of the foot statue. 😉
I didn’t just cry over Charlie’s death- I sobbed like a little baby! And I was never even a big fan of his character, go figure!
This finale blew me away! I have to admit, I’ve been so-so on Lost since Season 2. I didn’t watch it regularly because I was irritated by boring flashbacks/characters that didn’t seem to have to do with anything (Mr. Eko, etc.). I was sure that JJ Abrams was going to screw me over again like with Alias (awesome 1st season, decent 2nd season, after that –ugh). I was starting to come around somewhat this season, but it was still not must see TV for me and with the long break….But I came back in February stuck with it and it paid off because these last few episodes have been great and last night — there were so many “holy crap!” moments. RIP Charlie!
OK, as a new LOST fan (this was the first season I’ve watched) I gotta say this was a GREAT episode.
Question: Why didn’t Charlie just swim out the porthole and up to the surface?
As for why Kate and Jack are estranged, it sounded to me like they weren’t really “allowed” to talk about the island and probably weren’t supposed to even be seeing one another. Not sure who gave them the “golden pass” but it allowed them to fly whenever/wherever they wanted to.
Finally, WTH are we supposed to do until Feb. ’08? I think I’ll go ahead and get the first two seasons on DVD and play catch-up so I know what you guys are talking about half the time.
It was amazing. I heard that they plan on going in an completely different direction then most seasons. So the question could be…are they in the future now and all the flashbacks be of the island? Is the future we saw just a possibility of what is to come or is it set in stone? Do they really get off the island that quickly? Who gets off?
Also, Jack tells Kate he loves her which we all know is what she’s wanted to hear all season long…so why did she just smile her secret smile and not say anything back?
Though if both Jack and Sawyer wanted me I see no reason that I would ever leave the island.
This was an absolutely amazing finale! I think it was the best finale of any show this season, other than The Office. I didn’t even think that the flashback was really a flash forward (though that may be because I wasn’t paying as much attention to it as some of you may have). I also had some frustration with Lost this season but this finale absolutely restored my love for this show. I knew that something was going to change about the direction of the show and I think this is brilliant!
My speculation is that the flashbacks next season will be of the rescue and what happened to everyone after the rescue and their return to the “real world” while the “present” will be Jack trying to get him and everyone back to the island to make things right. Or as someone said above, that it will actually be all flash forwards of what happened to everyone after the rescue.
I also teared up during Charlie’s last scene. I’m really going to miss Dominic M. on this show, though I do hope he somehow does appear in flashback.
And can I also say how much I absolutely love Matthew Fox! He was amazing in this episode! My personal pick for the Best actor emmy has always been Kyle Chandler but after last night’s episode, Matthew Fox will be some strong competition. I’m just still in shock over what happened last night and I cannot wait to re-watch it again. How can they make us wait 9 months to find out what the heck is going on?
“Something tells me Jack has to make a decision during the rescue which results in leaving people behind.”
I was thinking more about this… it was mentioned twice in this episode that Kate always wants to go back to help her friends (Jack at the Other’s camp, wanting to go help Sayid, Bernard and Jin left at the beach this episode). In the flash-forward with Jack, Kate was very clear about NOT wanting to go back to the island. Obviously there’s a crapload of information we don’t have about, well, everything, but fundamentally I don’t think Kate would abandon anyone on the island (that didn’t want to be there) no matter what the consequences. So I don’t think Jack’s torment is over un-rescued Losties…… though what could be pushing him literally over the edge I have no clue.
I am stilling trying to figure everything out. How is Locke still alive and walking and where did Walt come from?? Is Michael back too? Why does the guy with the eye patch never die?? How did the boat lady know Desmond’s name and was carrying his picture?? Unbelievable…
I think the next three seasons we’ll see flashforwards and the future will change based on the choices they make on the island. Otherwise, it’s pretty depressing to know that poor Jack will turn into a druggie and alcoholic! Obviously, his decision to use the phone is the catalyst for his downfall. Why? Why? Why? Great stuff…
Wow, mg714… you just wrote EXACTLY what I was thinking!! Jinx. (Coke anyone?)
I was completely unspoiled for the flash-forwards, so much so that I thought it was Julie Bowen stepping out of the car and was shocked to see Kate’s long dark hair. I loved the juxtaposition of Jack’s desperation to get OFF the island to his obsession with getting BACK to the island. WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM???
Oh, and I loved him kicking Ben’s ass. Long overdue smack-down of the Others (including Sawyer’s fan.freaking.tastic shooting of Tom “I didn’t believe him”) was incredibly refreshing, vindicating and sastisfying.
I literally stood up and said “HELL YEAH!” when Jack promised Tom that he was going to get everyone off the island and then come back and KILL him. That was freaking amazing. Also, “That was for taking the kid off the raft.”
QUESTION? In the future scenes Jack references his father being alive when the other doctor was confronting him about being on the bridge and being drunk- I thought his father was dead? That confused me….
Thoughts anyone?
Well hello there Hutchie…how the hell are ya? Miss you!!
Anyway, yes…we are to assume that Jack’s father is dead since he died before the plane crash. Here are some possible scenarios (“others” feel free to add…but no you Ben because you are mean)
(1) Jack is talking about his father in the present tense because he’s has become a drunk and a drug addict and he forgets his father is dead
(2) the island has crazy healing power and Jack’s father has come back from the dead. As I said in my post, this one is a little hard to buy because why didn’t Boone and Shannon and the countless others return?
(3) If the island is a big, magical box that grants your wishes, maybe Jack asked for his father to be alive again
then of course there is Option D…all of the above are wrong.
OK so here go my two cents:
– That scene where Charlie does the sign of the cross right before he dies was just heartwrenching.
– What was up with Juliette kissing Jack?
– In the flash-forward, Kate told Jack something like “I have to leave or he’ll know I’m here”. Who is HE?
– Sayid = Awesome
– Ok, this may be far fetched but hear me out. Walt showed up when Locke was about to shoot himself. Could Walt have been Jacob? I don’t mean Walt IS Jacob, but if Jacob is that smokey monster thing and smokey can manifest itself as a person then maybe it was really the smokey thing that was talking to Locke, not Walt.
Loved the episode and I still feel Lost!
Heh… Here are some more points I would like to… well, point out:
1) at the beginning, when Jack is on the plane with the newspaper for the first time… is that Sun in the seat behind him?
2) a lot of people complained about the whole why-did-Jack-say-to-speak-about-his-dad-when-his-dad’s-dead… Jack was pretty drunk and drugged so… he could have said anything about dad being alive or even unicorns and it would have been fine.
3) There were a great of one/two-liners: Alex-Danielle reunion. “Do you want to help me tie him up?”, Alex-Ben.”Dad, you locked Carl in a cage. You tried to brainwash him.” “I didn’t want you to get pregnant…maybe I overreacted a little.”, Hurley-Sawyer “Dude, It was over. He surrendered.” “I didn’t believe him.”, and the best one of the night: Sawyer-Juliet “So, you screwin’ Jack yet?””No… are you?”
4) Danielle punching Ben tied to the tree. Awesome.
5) “Good Vibrations”? WTH?!
6) Lastly, who was in the coffin and who (he) was waiting for Kate in the end?
Walt? There was nothing about him in the season finale. I’m confused as to why he was brought up in the recap. Or did I just miss something?
The finale was ALOT better than I imagined it would be. I do feel that Ben may have been telling the truth for once about Naomi.
AND HOW AMAZING WAS IT WHEN PENNY WAS ON THE SCREEN??
I cried like a child when Charlie died. He still had a chance to live, and it breaks my heart.
Bravo to the writers for keeping the show alive!
WAIT!
HOLY CANOLIES
I MISSED THE WHOLE BEGINNING THAT’S WHY
okay, nevermind! Sorry!
I agree that the show is going in a new direction with flash-forwards. It leads us to believe some of the flashbacks might have been ‘forwards. (John Locke’s involvement with the marijuana farm comes to mind…though that was such a tedious episode, I kinda didn’t pay much attention.)
I think the story has to stay centered on the island. Are we really going to watch Jack drinking and oxycodoning week after week? How much do we care about Juliet reuniting with her sister? Not enough to sustain three more season’s worth of Losties reintegrating into society.
We want more unexplained island mysteries. And we want explanations for the old mysteries, like the cloud monster; what the Dharma Initiative was doing on the island in the first place; and the reason why the Initiative didn’t seem to mind that their colony was saren-gassed and taken over by some seriously creepy people. Are the Others descendants of the Black Rock pirate ship survivors? Or descendants of the builders of the giant foot statue remnant? Why doesn’t Richard seem to age and why don’t Mikhail or Locke ever die? Who is Jacob? What kind of operation is going on in Canada, where “Greta” and “Bonnie” (the Looking Glass guardians) were thought to be stationed? (That throw-away line from Mikhail was pretty interesting. “Lost: Vancouver”, anyone?!)
OMG! That was an amazing, brilliant episode last night!! I mean…WOW! I am still tearing up thinking about Charlie dying. If the guy with the patch can mysteriously come back to life then I don’t think it is too much to ask for Charlie to come back to life. Please!?!!?!
I have most of the same questions as everyone else.
1. I too was confused by Jack mentioning his dad. If it is the future, was it just that he wanted drugs so badly he would have said anything!?
2. What did the newspaper clip say that got Jack so upset?
3. Who was in the coffin?
4. Who did Kate have to get back to?
Ugh…we have to wait until February 2008?!?! No fun.
Ok, I don’t know whether to love or hate this episode. The flashforwards say that if they were rescued at that time, then that is how they are going to end up. Kate with “someone” who has a lifestyle that she drives a Volvo and Jack in a downward spiral.
HOWEVER, my problems with the show are just with things that were so stupid.
1. If Charlie was in the room that was flooding and then the water was static, not coming in or out, then why didn’t Charlie swim out of the window and get out? (And for Mikhail to never be dead, whatever, that is just so improbable – but he might be back next season! I am surprised he just didn’t grow a new eye while he was at it.)
2. When the future Jack was in the hospital and saying all this stuff about his father – go upstairs and ask my father, my father wrote this prescription. Well, isn’t his father supposed to be dead? This goes back to my original idea that Jack’s father faked his own death and that is why his coffin was empty on the island.
And the knowledge that this show is going to be on for 3 more years – well that kinda puts a sour note to it, because that means that something is going to drag on that long and i honestly don’t see how they can do it.
Great finale, LOST still has me as lost and shocked as ever, but from what I’ve read at least I’m not the only one! Charlie’s death def made me tear up and “Patchy” is really starting to get on my nerves! Die all ready (harsh I know, but come on!!)!! I was sad to see that Kate and Jack are estranged in the future but hopefully there is a good reason behind it…believe me if I was around Jack/Matthew Fox I would never feel lost ;o)..So now the wait begins, months and months of waiting, I agree GMMR when you said, “Just wondering if anyone happens to know if it’s February 2008 yet? See that’s when LOST comes back and I’m kind of hoping it’s sooner than it sounds in my head.” Right now it doesn’t sound soon enough!!
OH MY GOD! Wow….Lost has surely redeemed itself from the hell that was the first half of this season. I LOVED this finale. Like others I was a little confused and a bit irritated after we found that Jack’s flashforwards…were indeed forwards and he was mentioning his dad…but the writers of this show know what they are doing so there must be a reason to it. I have to say….I’m a huge Jack fan but over the last 5 eps or so I was so tired of him whining and just being generally annoying but I’m back on the Jack train now. When that man plays those tormented, desparate scenes I’m just a goner! He was great in this ep last night. I loved all the new questions we now have and how this sets up next season. I am never going to make it until February!!!!
Fan-Frickin-Tastic!! I thought it was awesome!!
(…deep… I know 😉 )
I have a few theories.
1. Something having to do with the temple or the “box” that brought back Locke’s dad will come in to play. My guess is that they would all get the chance to go back to some time in their life and fix whatever went wrong (Jack’s father dying, Kate doesn’t seem to be hiding from the law anymore). However, he couldn’t save his marriage, perhaps because of the drinking?
2. Sawyer was the one in the coffin. Jack went to the viewing hoping to see Kate. Sawyer was a loner, had no friends or family, and Jack was sure that Kate would show up for something like that. However, after the island experience, Sawyer seems to have taken a turn for the worse – which would explain her not showing up.
3. Jack needs a battle to fight and people to save, which might explain why he needs to go back to the island.
Just random thoughts after last nights awesome show!
What do you think?
Ok… am I the only one who thinks there is something fishy about the way Locke just seemed to disappear after Jack made the call to the boat? It just seems odd to me that he would come all that way just to give up??? NO WAY! That would not be John at all. I think he is up to something in the tower. Maybe he is trying to jam the signal again. I think that he does something that will stop the ship from being able to locate their exact coordinates. I don’t know. I just KNOW Locke is up to something, though! I’m mean, c’mon, nothing in this show happens for no reason.
I think that the “he” Kate has to get back to is her husband Kevin (Nathan Fillion). ok, maybe not. But I DO want to see him on the show again.
I know a lot of people think that when Jack mentioned his father in the “flashforward” that he probably was just too drunk and on too many pills to realize what he was saying, and that the writers just put that in there to keep people thinking it was a flashback – BUT, I don’t think that’s the case. I think the writers are smarter than that and and perhaps Jack’s dad isn’t dead in whatever kind of future Jack and Kate have found themselves in. We do know that when Jack found his father’s coffin on the island that it was empty. I really do think there’s more to that line about Jack’s father than we know right now.
I, too, thought the “he” could be Kevin (Nathan Fillion).
I don’t know why everyone keeps asking why Charlie didn’t just go out the window and swim to the surface. He had to die in order for Claire and everyone else to be saved. That’s what Desmond saw…at least that’s what he told him. If he changes that, then the whole thing (including the outcome) will change as well.
I agree with you Carly. That seems to be a growing theme — that for whatever reason, things have to happen the way the are “suppose” to happen. Also, in my earlier post I said “RIP Charlie!” With the exclamation point it looks like I’m happy Charlie is dead — I’m not! I’m sad. I can’t wait to say “RIP Ben!” though. At least Jack gave him a good beat down.
Not sure if someone mentioned this, but instead of flash-forwards, what if the scenes on the island are flashbacks now?
If we can wait an entire year between a JAM kiss and a JAM first date, I’m confident we can get through this hiaus as well. Do you know if there is going to be a version of the lost experience again this summer? That would tide me over.
Regarding the flash forwards, I think they will have a mix of flash forwards/flashbacks and we won’t know which it is until near the end of the episode. I think that would be fun. But that means they have to be really prepared in terms of who has yet to die on the island, and who survives.
That said, what a great night of TV! I was also up until 2am watching the most exciting Idol/Lost combo ever.
SUCH an amazing episode!! I’m impressed with the quality of television once again. A couple of comments:
-I can understand why people are asking why Charlie didn’t go through the porthole. It looked way to small for him to fit through, and of course, he had to sacrifice himself for his island family
-The flash forward thing was VERY depressing. I really hope these future glimpses can be altered because I can’t bear the thought of Jack being in such a dark, hopeless place.
And nominate this guy for an EMMY already, please! He was fantastic!
Forget charlie going through the porthole. Why didn’t he just exit and shut the door behind him? He knew that it was going to happen before it did and if the door being closed was the only thing stopping it from flooding, he could have easily escaped death.
I suppose it could have been the heroic thing to do, but I’m going to miss Charlie. A lot.
I could be crazy, but when he pulled up onto the bridge and pulled out the article he made a phone call and started to leave a message and I could have sworn he said, “Hey Penny… I just heard…” But I could be terribly wrong. He probably didn’t say that since none of you mentioned it.
I thought it was a good episode, but I didn’t like what became of Jack.
I can’t wait to see what’s in store for next season.
OMG, can you believe this a TV show and it just makes you think even harder about it after each episode. Even when it’s bad there are still so many things in it to think about. My husband looked at me like I was stupid when Charlie was giving up his life and I was crying and making those wimpering sounds…glad to know I am not alone.
The way they have wrote thus far this show could take many unanswered questions and create a story line around them and tada..many more episodes.
What if Lost refers to how a person lives their life- a certain mindset that suffering is bad, that death is to be avoided at all cost (hello future Jack example I would rather see John Locke shoot Jack in the hand then watch him live his days out that way) maybe it is a statement of interdepence on our fellow man to walk beside with the same mindset in order to achieve a goal worth getting. This show just is deep they have all kinds of stuff intertwined in here it is like my little girl jewelry box a big clump of stuff that has to undone piece by piece.
Anyway– I know someone said Eko was useless but maybe we will see differently in future eps when we discover what that smoke monster really is. If the island is where Eden was/is (theory from some other board) could that be the smoke from the angels that carried swords of fire to keep Adam and Eve from returning to the garden and then when Eko came closer to Eden he faced his judgement because he was encountering the heavenly realm that surrounds it. That is why it takes on the people they have wronged or who they miss or trust. It became Walt for John because this spiritual force knew he would listen to him, and know that he was a sign from the island. Anyway, I am rambling. This show drives me CRAZY with all the puzzle pieces, I need the box with the picture please soon. Oh, one more thing HURLEY rules!!!
I thought it was obvious that the Jack thing was an alternate past, like landing on a snake in Snakes and Ladders. They get rescued, but somehow everyone will find themselves a year or two before the time when they would have got onto the plane. Since they haven’t been on the plane yet, or been survivors on the island, there is no possible way that they would know each other. This explains why Jack’s father is still alive, why Jack and Kate had to meet furtively in secret, why Jack said he was sick of pretending, and why Jack responded ‘neither’ when asked at the funeral home whether he was friend or family ; because he was pretending that he didn’t have any knowledge of these people or that the whole island thing ever happened. They all find themselves back in the past, but they can’t forget the memory of a future that they have already experienced, but that is now closed to them; they are on a different road. Reason? So that we can see how the island experience affects them when they get a chance to live a year or two of their life over again. Kate obviously changes her ways. Without the need to rise to the challenge of leading the survivors on the island, Jack flounders. Somebody dies alone, without friends or family to mourn them (likely John Locke). Does anybody spot a flaw in this theory?
Wow, great episode. My favorite part was Hurley in the van.
As for Charlie, I don’t know for sure, but I assumed that the room he was in only sealed from the inside.
As for the alternate past theory, Rodger, it is interesting, but the one flaw I can see in it is when Jack talks about the special gold airline passes they all got. I assumed that they were being compensated by the airline for the crash. Man, I really hope that the show doesn’t end this depressingly.
Is it just me or did that coffin look too small for an adult? But what kid could have died who had no family or friends? I can’t stop thinking about this!
Am I the only one who thinks it may have been Ben who died in the flash-forward?
1) My husband said exactly what llsteve80 said about the coffin being too small for an adult. But what about the article saying “man’s body found”?
2) I think Jack’s dad is really dead, but Jack’s the only one that knew. Dr. Mike from Vegas said that Jack’s dad was out of town, and Jack went to Australia to find him. (Or did he know that he was going to pick up his body?) Jack’s using the “out of town” excuse to forge prescriptions for himself. Dead dad can’t get him oxycodone!
3) Why isn’t future Kate in jail?
First off… Well done to all lost producers and writers for bringing us the best season finale to date and keeping everyone on the edge of their seats. I must say i’ve never wanted to find out what happens next so much in a programme….and we have to wait till FEBRUARY 2008 to find out!!!! I’ve heard lots of rumours about season 4 of lost…. whether they are true or not i can’t say.. if you don’t want to know… don’t read on.
*The character of Jacob becomes more important.. although his role has not been cast yet. We learn more about his character.
*We backtrack to Walt and Michaels story, what happened when they left the island, and Michael becomes a regular again. It has also been rumoured that Walt is actually Jacob at the end of season 3.
*Kate and Jack are the only two to leave the island, yet Jack desperately wants to get back.
*It’s true, the person dead mentioned in the paper in the flashforward, had a name beginning with J, of course this could be James (Sawyer) John (locke) but everyone seems to forget the possibility of Julliette? Which would explain Jacks tears and Kate’s uncaring nature.
*Flash-forwards are going to become a vital part of season four, whether this is good or not im not sure… They will possibly be a spoiler as we know that the characters in the Flashforwards will survive and leave the island, leading to lacking apprehension when it comes to dangerous situations on the island as we know they are going to be alright.
*Apparantly the others are threatened with extinction?
*We learn more about Danielle’s wrecked ship..
*We also find out about Libby, about her story and past in the mental home – although she’s dead?
*overall though, it is the introduction of Jacob that leads to new discoveries and possibly answers many questions.
Could it be Jacob that took the persona of Jacks Dad, Hurleys imaginary friend (the one in the pj’s and slippers, The horse that follows Kate and possibly the black smoke?
There are so many questions, its just frustrating that no-one will really find out until February next year…….
Damn this is good TV x
Jack was way too upset about whoever died to have it be Sawyer. How about his father faked his death the first time and now he is really dead and in the coffin?
I think Kate is, against her will, with Ben.
I watched the episode again and noted that Jack’s beard is really long on the plane and much more trimmed at the hospital.
I think maybe this story is about parallel universes where you exist in different life times at the same time.
The four-toed statue is something we will get to next season according to the writers, and the next season of Lost will feature BOTH flashbacks and flash-forwards. These are some mysteries that will be resolved by the end of the season: what was up with the guys in the arctic, Walt’s ability to rejuvenate animals, the “magic box” idea. The smoke monster will not be explained until the end of the series. And it has been announced that there will be six seasons altogether.
I too was confused about Jack’s reference to his Dad, i was so confused that i denyed that they were in the future for the longest time, and I think that Kate’s with Sawyer (but he died; hence the newspaper idea), and that Ben is, for once, telling the truth about Naiomi because he seemed genuially afraid. Also since Penny had no idea what Charlie was talking about.
I also thought on the idea that Charlie could’ve excaped, but he didn’t so the writers have a plan.
My opinion is that Jack and Juliette hooked up (i actually like Juliette despite her rep!!)
In conclusion, my dying faith to the TV show has been rekindled to a I-Can’t-Wait till-Febuary season kick-off thanks to this Kick A$$ LOST writers!!!
This was indeed a craze season finale and the flashforwards were a great twist. Good job on the newspaper clipping, if the name does start with a J, i think it might be Juliette! because Kate definitely wouldnt go to Juliette’s funeral, although im not sure why no one would show up to it…who knows, the insanity and questions of LOST continue…does anyone know how many more season’s they are planning on doing, i think they should end it in season 4, sometimes dragging a series out isnt the best idea, but they always seems to find a way to keep me watching!
LOST has actually taken a big effect on my life. I am working up all these theories so here are my thoughts and feelings:
*I can’t believe Charlie died. They need to bring him back…But Charlie may have not died. First of all theres a possibilty he could have escaped through the porthole. Secondly, Desmond could have found a way in and brought him to the surface. And thirdly, who knows, this could all be just one of Desmonds visions! Remember this is lost we are talking about. But I am expecting to see an appearance of Charlie next season!
*I think the person in the coffin Jack was talking about is BEN!! Suprising ha!!?? I only think so because Kate seemed disgusted about it and Jack may have been a witness, being on drugs he could feel sympathy for the old chap.
*As for Claire and Aaron, I don’t think they get off the island as quick as Charlie wanted them too. I mean ITS LOST!! Actually I dont think any of our Islander will make it to safety as soon as possible… Naomi, Locke seem a little suss and who knows… the OTHERS can return at any time!
