Top 10 TV Shows of 2011

December 28, 2011 by

Like the top 10 episodes of 2011 post, I need to start off my list with a caveat: I’m behind (but currently catching up on) BREAKING BAD, JUSTIFIED and PARKS & RECREATION. I understand that they are all amazing shows, but I haven’t seen enough of their current season to judge them fairly. So before you yell at me for excluding those shows, keep that in mind.

With that being said, here are my top 10 television shows of 2011 in descending order…

In terms of reality shows, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE and THE VOICE stood out to me, but it felt like a cheat to add them to my top 10 series list. So an honorary gold star to those shows.

Agree? Disagree?

What are your top 10 shows of 2011?

    What about Bones, Marisa?!?

As for the rest, Fringe, Once Upon A Time and Castle are on my list as well. Plus: Rizzoli & Isles – such a shame it’s only a summer show.

why is Bones not on the list?????

Oh I’m going to weigh in here with my favorites….didn’t FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS air in 2011? Yes, it’s on the top of my list, along with another Jason Katmis show – PARENTHOOD! So amazing. Representing the comedy side, HAPPY ENDINGS was the surprise delight for me in 2011, along with PARKS & REC and COMMUNITY!

Fringe, Modern Family, Homeland, Castle and Raising Hope are all on my list as well. Yours is missing Bones and The Good Wife.

I’m not even going to comment on the fact that Bones didn’t make this list but I am even more appalled at the fact that Revenge was not mentioned! As perhaps the best new show on television, it certainly deserved a spot on this list!

I agree with once upon a time, homeland and Fringe. But how is community not on the list? 🙂

Modern family, Raising Hope and the Big Bang Theory are still on my ‘to watch-list’.

I can understand Bones not being on the list. It is OK now but there are at least 10 better shows IMO. Love Parks and Rec too but I know you have not watched it.

Parenthood is a great show, but not for everyone. Friday Nights Live was so good that it was definately on my top 10. So was the Killing (except for Finale)

Don’t watch the Good Wife but everyone I know just loves it.

Writing on Dr. Who outdid everyone else. Brilliant show.

Where is Bones’? IT is the best show on tv!!!!! I can not wait until it returns….I hope it returns sooner than they predict!!!!!!!

Where is Bones?!!!! IMO it’s a lot better than some of the shows you chose!

Ehm..Bones isn’t THAT great. It’s good. but best of 2011? I disagree. And it’s not better than a lot of shows here..
Yes. Fringe. FRINGE! Definitely #1 on my list. Haven’t watched Homeland. Modern Family, TBBT, Castle, all of these are on my list too. Community though? It definitely deserves a spot.

I agree with some of your choices but I have to say that Doctor Who is one of those shows that surpassed the rest IMO. This season took things to a whole new level and Stephen Moffet continues to astound me with his fantastic writing, the crazy twists he includes, and the way he takes characters and pieces of past episodes to build a masterpiece that in a way one wouldn’t necessarily expect. Plus, the cast is brilliant and Arthur Darvill particularly seems to have really stepped it up this year.

Unfortunately, Bones hasn’t been stellar in quite a while. Last season was a giant disaster that messed up the show permanently and this season is mediocre at best. The magic is more or less, gone. So, I’m not in the least bit surprised that I don’t see it on this list. Of course, this is JMO. It honestly devastates me to say this. I don’t say this as a ‘hater’, but as an extremely disappointed fan. I truly miss when Bones used to be my must-see tv show of the week and when I waited with baited breath every week to see Booth and Brennan light up my screen.

Not all these shows here would make my own personal list but this is a great list! 🙂 Homeland and Fringe, YES! Two of the most quality shows on television right now. Castle has been fantastic as well! The Big Bang Theory is at it’s best, ita! Modern Family remains quality, yes.

Where is Bones on this list some of you ask………….it should not be anywhere near this list. The fact it didn’t make this list redeems some of my faith that FOX doesn’t cut the paychecks for Ms. Roffman and other that think Bones is breaking new ground in TV relationships. My God, what show are they watching???

If you put one of the lack luster, dumbed down Season 7 (at least the first half of the season) in you top ten list next year, then we clearly are not watching the same show.

As a P.S. to this post, before anyones says “well you haven’t seen all the first half of Season 7 let alone all of Season 7 to have this opinion………….SPOILER ALERT…………………………………………………………………………………………..
As an orginal Bones fan I can tell you that Bones having a baby in a barn (stable like setting) because there is “no room at the Inn” is not viewed as great slapstick comedy. It is about as funny as Booth helping Bones up and hence giving the fans a little look as what doggy style sex with these two would be like. To get to a snicker about the upcoming birth episode, one has to understand the insluting that has to occur to the Brennan character to tickle your funny bone. Bones is an atheist, yet circumstances forces her to play out a scene from the bible???????? Seely JOSEPH Booth????????? Well……………..that’ll show her. This will be such fun to talk about at the Royal diner, ha ha ha. Bones will have to have the baby baptized now because look how she came into the world……Ohhhh , ahhhhhhhh. ha ha ha. I take no stance on religion for the masses, it’s never a fun topic to discuss as someone will always get their panties in a wad. Even Bones steers clear of it for the most part. So this over the top scene for a birth of B&B baby seems just……………….like crap, antoher way to poke fun a dumbed down Brennan.

The fans don’t seem to get it…….when the creator and executive producer of this show (HH and SN) give the fans the middle finger. You see, that is why they throw ridculous doggy style slapstick in a scene and out of the millions of possible scenes for the introduction of the Bones/Booth baby, we get episode seven of season seven.

I embarrassed to be a fan of this show right now.

The fact that Bones isnt on here proved to me that this list is unofficial. It has been in the top ten and defnitly above most of the shows on here in the OFFICIAL STATISTICAL ratings!!
