Watch the SMASH Series Premiere Now!
January 16, 2012 by Marisa Roffman
SMASH won’t officially have its series premiere until Monday, February 6 on NBC, but if you’re dying to see what all the fuss is about, you can download the pilot on iTunes now or watch it OnDemand.
This is one of my favorite pilots of the midseason, so let me know what you think after you’ve finished it!

I liked it very much. Each character has personality, including some flaws (I don’t mean in a critical way–just in a ‘realistic’ way) but it doesn’t feel soapy. I also like that (for the most part), the songs are relevant to the plot and are actually happening in auditions and such (not all, but most). Hopefully it stays as show about a musical and not a musical. I liked musicals, but it is sort of unrealistic when people burst in to song. I don’t watch Glee, but I’m guessing Glee is more of the ‘burst in to song’ type.
The one thing that made me crazy when I watched was that I could NOT figure out who played the part of Karen’s mom. I had to look it up, and then I realized she was the mom on Freaks and Geeks. Awesome…
I have yet to watch (my internet connection is being horribly spazzy at the moment), but I wanted to let people know that the Smash pilot is also available for free on Amazon Instant Video. The few minutes I have seen have been great, and I can’t wait to see the rest!
