It’s TCA Time…Are You Ready?
July 18, 2007 by Kath Skerry
Our good friends over at MeeVee are at the TCAs and are providing full coverage of all the hoopla. MeeVee Editor Joel Brown is posting daily about all the buzz from the TCAs and he was kind enough to allow GMMR full access to all his tales. Make sure you bookmark TV with MeeVee and check back often for new updates. I’m going to be keeping an eye out for new posts from them as well and I’ll keep a running post here at GMMR of some of the news that I think you would most be interested in hearing about. So in the words of Fergie…let’s get is started:

JERICHO fans are still haunting CBS president Nina Tassler. And just why did Mandy “Inigo Montoya” Patinkin abruptly leave CRIMINAL MINDS? Enquiring minds what to know…I want to know. (Read more…)

Where Isaiah Washington goes, controversy follows. Such was the case at the TCAs when the producers of BIONIC WOMAN had to justify hiring the ex-GREY’S ANATOMY star. (Read more…)
THE SINGING BEE is singing its way in the hearts of millions (sorry that was bad but I’m tired). Joey Fatone may have a big hit on his hands. (Read more…)

MeeVee is at the NBC panel with members of the NBC Thursday night comedy line-up. We’ve got Greg Garcia and Jason Lee from “My Name Is Earl,” Lorne Michaels and Tina Fey from “30 Rock,” Greg Daniels and John Krasinski from “The Office,” and Bill Lawrence and Zach Braff from “Scrubs.” (Read more…)

Let’s face it, the Game Show Network, um I mean GSN has to throw good parties to even make a last impact at the TCAs. And from what I read…they do. I mean booze and faux-Jeopardy? Come on now, what more could you ask for? (Read more…)

David Duchovny is at the TCAs to talk about his new show CALIFORNICATION, but he made the mistake of telling a room full of TV critics that a new X-FILES movie is on. Needless to say his new show wasn’t the focus for long. (Read more…)
The cast of HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2 takes the stage. One by one the kids take their seats. Zac Effron insists on being carried in on a large gold platter by the cougars from Age of Love…is that weird? I kid of course but you know the other HSM2 actors must be a wee bit jealous. (Read more…)

CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM’s Larry David proclaims he is Jesus Christ, and that wasn’t even the funniest part of the day. Good comedians are good on their feet and Larry David is no exception. Find out why he continues with CURB when every year he plans on shutting it down. (Read more…)
I am starting to wonder if there really is a difference between Adrien Grenier and his TV alter ego, Vincent Chase? According to this MeeVee update from inside the HBO party there sure doesn’t seem to be. And Gandolfini was there but he was acting all Tony Soprano-ish. Hmmm am I seeing a pattern? (Read more…)

Original post…July 11th
For the next two weeks, TV critics from across the country descend on L.A. to get acquainted with all the new shows (and some returning favorites) of the next television season. The critics get exclusive access to the stars, the sets, and all the latest news and gossip while they are wined and dined like TV royalty. Imagine my fantasy world if you would – it’s the TCAs.Sadly I was not invited to attend. It seems that the TCA (Television Critics Association) are a bit snobbish about membership and allow mainly old school press into their little clique. Despite the number of people that flock to GMMR everyday for their TV news (of which I am extremely appreciative), the TCA considers me just a lowly blogger. Aw 🙁 It’s really frustrating to know that really small publications such as college newspapers get access to the event while I’m left out in the cold. Bitter much?! Ha!
