BIG BROTHER Recap: Power of Veto
August 1, 2007 by Kath Skerry
No time for an in-depth BIG BROTHER recap today, but I thought we could cover the basics and then bitch about the houseguests in the comments…sound good?
Nominations…
Dustin is HOH and put up Jen and Kail for eviction, which won him the love of the rest of the house (well except for Jen and Kail). Dustin told Kail that she was a pawn and that the house was voting for Jen to go. In the event that Jen won the Power of Veto, it would be Zach going up in her place and going home. Kail said she was putting her trust in Dustin. Dustin told the Diary Room that Kail shouldn’t trust him.
Power of Veto Competition…
Playing for this week’s POV are the two nominated houseguests (Jen & Kail), the HOH (Dustin) and randomly chosen houseguests Jameka and Jessica. Jameka figured that since it was Jen that pulled her name to play for the POV then it was God’s will that she play for Jen, and she’s not going to get in the way of God’s will. Jameka gave Jen her word that if she won the POV she would take Jen off the block. I have to respect Jameka’s way of playing the game but at the same time I can’t help but wonder WTF?! Dick, the atheist, thinks that if there is a God then he might have a few more important things to do then care about Big Brother. Yeah, like finding me a rich husband!!
This week’s game involves Big Brother puzzles. Each contestant starts with 1000 points and they are awarded points for each correct answer. Answer incorrectly and you are automatically eliminated from the game. The contestant with the most points at the end wins the POV. So after a few questions, Danielle is eliminated and Dustin takes the lead. But then Big Brother offers up a prize that can be bought with your BB POV points. The first prize up is a trip for 2 to Barbados. Dustin buys it and takes himself out of the POV lead. The other houseguests are not happy. A few more questions correct and Dustin is once again in the lead. But then he uses his BB POV points once again to buy $5000. Now the houseguests are really pissed. Jameka could have really used that money, but she made a promise to Jen so she didn’t take it. Jameka is in the lead, and it’s down the to the final question and whoever answers it could win. Jen buzzes in with a total BS answer essentially ensuring Jameka (and herself) the win. It was a total asshat move on Jen’s part and I hate her even more than I did yesterday (which was a lot).
The houseguests are pretty pissed at Dustin for being so greedy. And in shocking, never seen before moment, Amber cries. Oh what I would give to be at home with her after this show is over and watch her face as she realizes that she completely embarrassed herself on national television by ugly crying 24/7. Ha!
Power of Veto Ceremony…
Knowing that Jameka is going to use the POV to take Jen off the block, the LNC (Late Night Crew consisting of Jameka, Dustin, Eric, Dick, Danielle, and Amber) tries to figure out who Dustin should put up for eviction in place of Jen. The consensus seems to be Nick, as everyone thinks that Nick is playing all sides of the house. But Danielle is not too happy and she seems to think from a strategic standpoint it’s better to go with Zach. But see Dani, everyone hates Zach and they can easily get him out later. They have their shot at Nick now so they need to go for it. Danielle leaves the room crying (who are you, Amber?)
It’s time for the ceremony, and Jameka does what she said she would and took Jen off the block. Nick is named her replacement and he is none too pleased.
America’s Player…
Eric’s task this week is kind of a funny one. He has to create a new house catchphrase that his houseguests must use on their own in the next few days. And the winning catchphrase is: “I’d do that for a dollar”. Ha!
Being the right guy for the job, Eric takes the approach of telling a few people that it’s his goal to get others to use the phrase…and it might just work.
So who will be going this week? Kail or Nick.
And who will America force Eric to vote for this week?

I really want Kail to go this week. I think Jameka is a complete idiot…..she had to have known that Jen would to anything to get herself off the block. I don’t understand why people keep nominating Jen for eviction. With contestants like her, you always have to back door them…hasn’t anyone ever watched this show before? Oh, and Dustin was a complete idiot in the veto game…why was he not trying his hardest to keep his nominations as they were, especially if he secretely wants Kail gone? I’m ready for tomorrow night. I really hope Nick is safe and then someone like Dani, Evil Dick, or Zack win HOH.
I don’t think Nick is going to be safe and I don’t know why Dick and Daniele (Dick more than Daniele) went along with this stupid nomination. It was clear that everyone wanted Zach out. I understand that they weren’t sure where Nick’s loyalties laid, but come on now!
I am hoping someone will be able to say or do something to get Nick to stay. I’m really disliking Jen and Kail as the days wear on and Jameka finally makes a big play and it is a stupid one. UGH!
DUstin + aMBER = DUMBER
You know, as much as I hated Jen to begin with, I feel bad for her because the HG are so mean to her. She holds her own but they are downright cruel.
It’s disappointing because I liked Jameka, Amber, Dustin, Daniele, Nick, Dick and Eric to begin with. But through reading feed recaps, I’ve lost respect for just about everyone.
Okay, I still love Dustin – I don’t care if he took all the BB prizes. He deserves them for being called out as having an STD on television! (which was a total Joe fabrication that backfired)
