FRINGE: Seth Gabel Reveals What You Didn’t See in the Series Finale

FRINGE fans were delighted when the series traveled back Over There one last time during the show’s two-hour finale event, and they weren’t alone: when I spoke with ARROW guest star, Seth Gabel, he told me he was equally thrilled to pop back in to play Lincoln again.
“I was very happy, that on some level, you got to see Lincoln was happy in the other universe with a family, married to Olivia, who he was in love with,” he told me. “But also in that episode, you see a glimmer of doubt and wondering whether or not if he had stayed in our universe, if he could have possibly made a difference between Peter and Olivia, maybe have helped in some way and maybe have stopped all of this terrible stuff from happening in the first place.”
Speaking of that newly revealed family that Lincoln and the other Olivia have, Gabel confirmed that he and Anna Torv (Olivia) filmed a little scene with their fictional son that ended up being cut from the finale.
“We shot a scene where you kind of see us, we were out shopping for the day and we stopped to get some coffee,” Gabel said. “And we’re just hanging out together as a family, and our son starts drinking some coffee and then Olivia gets the call [that was seen in “Liberty”] that something bigger is going down. And that’s when we get pulled into the story that leads to the arc of the finale…[the actor who played our son] kind of looks like both of us, which was interesting to see!”
But while FRINGE fans may be watching and rewatching the show’s final hours to cope with the series ending, Gabel confessed he hasn’t actually seen his last episode yet: “I haven’t actually watched the finale yet, because I’ve been waiting to watch the whole season nonstop!”

I’m willing to beg to anyone who’s necessary so the Fringe bosses release the deleted scene with Lincoln, Liv and Trevor.
For what I’ve read, there won’t be deleted scenes included on the s5 DVD setbox. But they still can release it other way. I’M BEGGING YOU FRINGE, LET ME SEE THAT SCENE.
I wished they had a moment with the Walternate, but it was pretty good, and Lincoln was awesome.

Anna Torv is such a great actress, that I always think for a fracture of a second that is someone else playing Fauxlivia, someone else playing Olivia. I love how Seth Gabel waited to watch the whole season in one take, I did the same thing.
I really hope they put this cut scene in the dvd collection, and i agree with RN as well seeing Walternate wouldv’e been a nice addition as well. The whole movie idea …Im skeptical about I mean what could they possibly do as the storyline? This series was an all time favorite of mine it will always be on my number 1 list. All great things must come to an end, im glad they did the story so well.
Wow! Coffee! Totally missed that little detail. There are so many little moments I would have loved to have seen, this deleted scene included, but that is just me wanting more Fringe. This entire season was phenomenal wrap-up to an already brilliant series. To get a glimpse of the other side during the finale was icing on the cake. I was so happy to see that Lincoln got his Olivia goodness in the end! I miss this show dearly. There was, and never will be anything like it on TV.
My hubby and I ate red vines and drank strawberry milkshakes for the first episode and finale. It was very epic for us. We love Walter.

Since the time is reset in Fringe-verse, can we go back to Olivia and Peter getting back to their Fringe cases?
How about another season?

I wish, wish, wish the show could come back in some kind of a reincarnation! There is so much mindless drivel on.
I was confused – I thought Peter was the father of Oliva from the other side’s son… after their encounter when she was pretending to be Peter’s Oliva on our side. I wish they had made that more clear.

Kelly (above), the timeline was erased. At 3rd season Peter was erased and everything that had happened before was gone. So, Fauxlivia never came. And she never had Henry. Peter, some episodes after (when he got back) knew about their son, that he was father at some time, and I think taht’s why he and our Liv named their daughter as Henrietta.
I would have love to had seen the scene to know that Lincoln had a happy ending aswell as he was a great new character !! I hope that it’s in the DVD extras !!

I’m really going to miss this show.
I love Fringe very much and it was a great series overall, but I feel like the finale didn’t really give me the complete satisfaction that I was looking for. I was expecting something different I guess. I would love for another channel to pick it up and give it a full final season, but I know that that won’t happen. I was a bit disappointed because even though I liked the change of the final season I miss how it used to be in the beginning. I loved all of the seasons, but I missed seeing the cohesiveness of the team in the Harvard basement along with the FBI building and Massive Dynamic. I guess I just want it to come back with a full season rather than the shortened fifth season. I do miss it very much though!!!! Great characters and story lines!!!!
Knowing that there was more we didn’t get to see makes me want to see it! I’m happy with what we got, sad that its over and curious about what else, besides this scene that Seth is talking about, was cut.
Fringe is by far the best show ever made! I have all the seasons except for the one that isn’t out yet. I wish this show would have kept going forever! My 3 yr old son & I watched it together all the time. He knows all the characters & would run to the tv when it came on screaming “FRINGE!!!” I will forever have that bonding time with my son 🙂 my husband watched it too…but was not faithful like my son & I. Lol THANK U FRINGE CREATORS!
I loved Seth Gabel on Fringe. My favorite scene was when he helped deliver Fauxlivia’s baby and he thought she had died.
I really hope they at least put the scene on the DVD since they had to cut it out.
I was actually there when they filmed the scene with their son. Although I was disappointed to see that they had cut that scene out, I still feel satisfied knowing how it was. I was also there for the scene in the finale when Windmark teleported out of Sector 9 when all of the Fringe Events had been going through the air vents and in the final cut of the episode they just had the 2 seconds of him stepping out, but when they filmed it they had much more. They had Windmark talking to another observer and people were running out of the building and close to the end of the scene an observer jumped through a window and his face was melting off, which was pretty cool.
I really hope that they include these in the DVD extras.
I wish that episode 13 could have been 2 hours, that way they could have kept/had more in it. But don’t get me wrong, I am extremely satisfied with the ending of Fringe. I miss it very much 🙁
A Fringe Movie be cool…
I seem to remember that Alt-Astrid said that coffee was very expensive and rare on the other side and that she couldn’t afford it. Now suddenly the whole family can have it?
For me this was one of the best if not the best show on TV, I DVRed every episode, and felt a little lost dealing with the reality it was coming to and end. I am all for a good Syfi show or movie and this was one of the best I’ve ever watched! The. Human connections in it was very believable. It left you wanting more every episode. Maybe you can do like some sequels and do a reboot or a make full fledge movie with all the original charecters! That will make it go BOOM! Fan for life.
Plot for movie – set in 2065, we could see Walter and Michael track down and reunite with an aging Peter & Olivia and a middle aged Etta. Are you listening J.J?
I loved Fringe. I started watching because I was from Boston and that was where it took place (for the most part) Unlike other shows that make up names of cities, they actually used real city names around Boston. I also love Paranormal, fantasy, syfy, and all that good stuff. I have to say I was a little disappointed by the series finale. I was very sad to see it end. I saw every episode of every season. I really was hoping that the finale would have more flashbacks from the entire series. I would have loved to see some stuff from the beginning to the end. However, it was a pretty good finale and I would love to see a Fringe movie!
Fringe finale extended version please
Hopefully those saying they want a movie also realize that will be impossible. I would love a movie as well – but they aren’t going to make a movie where you have to know what’s going on first to understand the movie. And obviously Fringe isn’t something that can be explained in a 5-10 minutes beginning piece.

It would of been awesome to see that scene, more doppelgänger scenes is always awesome since they first introduced them. Hopefully it will be on the DVD. And I would of loved to have seen Walternate one last time… But Olivia 21 years older than her blonde self was very sexy and satisfying to see.

I want you to solve an incident by Olivia, Peter, Walter, and Astrid.
I have been involved in TV and film for 47 years. My first show I worked on the LIve Dark Shadows. Without a doubt Fringe was the best show ever on TV. Such a talented mix of producers, directors, writers and actors with a such a creative touch. I like the rest of you will always be wanting more, that is what makes it such a great show.
I loved and adored that those two were married and happy and joking. But I was glad that they didn’t have kids because I thought Fauxlivia couldn’t safely have children that’s why her and Peter’s son was a miracle, right?
Closing the bridge must have cured the coffee shortage problem in the red-verse?
The Fringe finale was a major disappointment. It took way too long for them to get the machine working, which we already knew was gonna happen. They left out the only thing Fringe fans really wanted to know….what was life like after they fixed the past? Where was Walter and how was he doing? What about the other dimension? Where were those people? Even though Olivia and Peter’s daughter was saved, did the “butterfly effect” screw up other relationships or events? How did Peter and Olivia meet if they changed the past? Was there still a Fringe division if there was no Walter? It made no sense and that was really all I was interested in, was to see how things changed after they “saved the world” but we got to see nothing except that their daughter was alive. That was ok I guess but it was predictable. It was everything else that I was curious about. The finale sucked. It made me sorry I ever watched the show at all.
@Chris and Steve: I thought it was alt-Elizabeth (Peter’s mother in the redverse) who said in the third season finale “Over There” that coffee was extremely expensive and rare.
I got the impression from the brief detour to the redverse that things were a lot better than they had been (perhaps partly because of the passage of 20 years’ time). Remember, when we first saw the redverse, vegetation was dying off, bizarre diseases were running amok and spacetime holes were being ambered left and right. And coffee was at a premium.
So, in the end, our Olivia is married to Peter from the alternate universe and the other Olivia is married to Lincoln from our universe.

institutionalized and we see him, as his Father was, broken and feeble in

and Etta seek out answers, pouring over old Fringe Division cases in an
attempt to contact the only man that can help – Walter.
Man I guess I’m fairly knew to the Fringe world how many seasons are there? I was watching season 3 on the science channel does anyone know how I can get to see all the seasons on tv I have direct tv and for some reason they dont have on demand

Did anyone else notice the look Peter had on his face in the very final scene, Wyeth he opened the envelope to see the tulip? He looked confused for a moment but then had a glare as if he’d realised something or noticed someone!
I watch several episodes of Fringe every single day and as you can see it is Oct 10. I’m waiting for the movie. The features from each season are not revealing and are not your typical outtakes or extras that are often added to the complete DVD collection. A disappointment really. Fringe surpassed X-Files as my favorite tv show of all time. The cast, scripts, science and science fiction all worked together to keep the audience on the edge of our seats week after week, always wanting more. Your fans want more now that we’ve watched all five years several times and the show has been over for 8 months.
