THE OFFICE is Closed
November 7, 2007 by Kath Skerry
As some of you may already know, TV is starting to shut down. The late night shows are already in reruns and now some of our favorites are ceasing production. Yesterday came word that the doors of Dunder Mifflin have officially been closed. Without writers and with cast members refusing to cross the picket line the producers have officially shut down production of THE OFFICE.
Check out this great video from OFFICE staffers Greg Daniels, Mindy Kaling, B.J. Novak, Paul Lieberstein, and Mike Schur as they explain just what they are fighting for. There’s some trademark OFFICE humor here and who knows when we’ll get hear that again so make sure to savor it.
SUPPORT THE WRITERS!!!

Thanks for this, GMMR and LJ.
I cannot believe they aren’t paid for the webisodes or for the online airing of the show. But the worst of the worst is that NBC – Universal – whomever (or is it whoever 🙂 wouldn’t even spring for the Emmy award!
Just want to say that I support the strike and the WGA members no matter what. Stay strong, guys! We fans will be here waiting for ya when you come back!
Great video – I also cannot believe they weren’t able to get the actual Emmy Award. I’m definitely in support of these writers and especially the lesser-known writers who particularly rely on the kind of things they’re fighting for in order to even just make a living.

Wow.. I hadn’t even thought about the webisodes – that’s terrible. I wonder if we’re allowed to buy their Emmy’s for them? ‘Cause WTF NBC, they win for YOU and you can’t even spring for their Emmy that they earned!? That’s ridiculous.. We’d do it for them in a heartbeat and we’ve got about a million times less money than NBC.
TV shows and movies would be NOTHING without the writers!
Would it help if we wrote letters to the networks? I mean not just one or two of us, but as many of us as possible…?
If every fan sent 4 cents for each TV DVD they own (roughly the amount the writers want to be compensated for) to the network producers/studio with instructions to “give this to the writers for fair compensation” it would send them a message.
I think they’re a bunch of whiners. Isn’t this stuff in the contract? Did anyone actually cheat anyone, like the networks SAID they’d pay them and didn’t? If that’s the case, sure, but unions suck.
