About Last Night…THE X FACTOR

For me, television last night was all about THE X FACTOR. Let’s talk about a few of the more noteworthy contestants…

• I enjoyed Brandie Love. Given how well country music has done on reality shows lately, if she can handle boot camp, I wouldn’t be surprised to see her go far.
• We only got a very, very brief glimpse of Timmy Thames, who sounded good, but perhaps doesn’t make it far/only had an OK audition or backstory?
• Carlos Guevara absolutely made me cry. His version of “Gravity” was beautiful, and the support he got — both from the mentors and his friends/family — was absolutely beautiful.
• I’m interested to see how AKNU does. They have charisma, they held their own against Simon, but I could also see them being limited in the future.
• Danie Geimer was a bit of a surprise. Hopefully the show doesn’t exploit her awkwardness too much.
• It was good to see Jeff Gutt return. His rendition of “Creep” was amazing…but whether he can make it further than last time is tough to tell.
