THE BLACKLIST: What You Need to Know About the New NBC Series
September 23, 2013 by Marisa Roffman
There are approximately one million new shows debuting this season*, and it’s going to get difficult to keep track of them all.
To help you out, for every new show, I’m going to basically create a hub of info on the day of the premiere — pilot photos, my quick take on the pilot (or what I’ve seen so far), what’s been written about it so far, and when you can watch it.
Next up, THE BLACKLIST…
*Maybe not scientifically correct. But close enough.
NBC’s description: “Ex-government agent and one of the FBI’s Most Wanted fugitives, Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader) mysteriously turns himself in to the FBI and offers to give up everyone he has ever worked with including a long-thought-dead terrorist but under one condition – he’ll only talk to newly-minted female FBI profiler, Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone) with whom he seemingly has no connection. For Liz, it’s going to be one hell of a first day on the job and what follows is a twisting series of events as the race to stop a terrorist begins.”
My take: THE BLACKLIST grabs you from minute one, and should be a treat for James Spader fans — who helps elevate the show beyond just another version of the “bad guy works with good guys to take down other bad guys” trope. I’m interested to see how this series works week-to-week, but it’s certainly one of the more promising pilots of the fall.
