Fox Gives Series Commitment to GOTHAM
September 24, 2013 by Marisa Roffman
The new television season has barely started and Fox has already made its second series commitment for projects that won’t bow until at least 2014. While the first series was a Tina Fey-produced comedy, this time around, a Fox rep has confirmed the network has ordered GOTHAM, a show that will be set in the DC Comics/Batman universe.
And while many superhero television shows focus on origin stories of the central figures (ARROW, SMALLVILLE, the upcoming potential FLASH spinoff), this one is aiming to be different: GOTHAM will follow the origin story of Commissioner James Gordon and the criminals who “made Gotham famous.” The show comes from THE MENTALIST creator Bruno Heller.
Deadline was first to break the news.
