Upfront ’08 Memories – Meeting the Cast of THE OFFICE

As I continue to stroll down memory lane of the Upfronts ’08, there’s no way I can talk about my week without talking about getting to see the cast of my favorite show, THE OFFICE.
Yes, I was lucky enough to meet the cast last year, but it really doesn’t matter. I still get just as excited about seeing the collective group that make me laugh out loud every Thursday (ok and every Tuesday if we are talking TBS reruns). Just being near them I had this stupid smile on my face (as seen in the pictures below).
Now the weird thing about the Upfronts is that the stars are just kind of hanging out. They’re walking around and talking with friends, and such was the case with the cast of THE OFFICE. The first cast member I spotted was Oscar Nunez, who was sitting on a bench chatting it up with Sendhil Ramamurthy (Mohinder from ‘Heroes’). That’s when the excitement kicked in. Dunder Mifflin was in the house. After seeing Oscar, it seemed everywhere I looked there was a DMer. First Mindy Kaling, then B.J. Novak. I spotted Phyllis Smith and Leslie David Baker and then the lovely Kate Flannery. Next thing you know they were all there getting settled on the big white couch.
As the cast was one of the biggest draws at the event, there was a designated area where fans could take pictures. The line started 45 minutes before the cast even arrived.
The cast members in attendance were: Ed Helms, Leslie David Baker, Phyllis Smith, Rainn Wilson, Paul Lieberstein, Craig Robinson, Jenna Fischer, Brian Baumgartner, Oscar Nunez, Kate Flannery, John Krasinski, Creed Bratton, Mindy Kaling and B.J. Novak. Steve Carell was there for the press line but he was busy rehearsing for SNL across the street. Oh and as much as I would like spinoff casting rumors, no Scott Adsit (Pete, 30 Rock) isn’t joining the cast…he just snuck in for this picture.
So here are a few pictures that I snagged that night. It’s always so surreal to be able to talk to your favorite performers up close and personal. And although it’s been said by me and countless others, the cast of THE OFFICE are genuinely nice people. Based on the smiles and laughter, they truly enjoy each other’s company, and the couldn’t have been any nicer to any of the fans who waited around for their chanced to interact with the cast of their favorite show.

TV Stars Every Which Way You Look at the NBC Upfronts

It’s going to be a bit before I’m able to upload my pictures from last night’s NBC Upfront party, but I thought I would share a few of the highlights and set the scene.
Because NBC already had revealed their 2008-09 primetime schedule a few weeks ago, they didn’t have their traditional Upfront presentation. This year it was more of a sensory experience. We entered Rockefeller Center and walked into the NBC Experience. As we made our way through we were greeted with videos, artwork and even the Deal or No Deal ladies sharing the story of next year’s primetime schedule. It was a lot to take in, but not a bad way to spend some time in line.
The next part of the experience was TV come to life. The cooks from TOP CHEF were making appetizers, Janice Dickenson from THE JANICE DICKENSON MODELING AGENCY was taking glamour shots with us as we walked through. The gladiators from AMERICAN GLADIATORS were jousting each other (and from what I hear, the party goers as well). There were a lot of fun kiosks where we could pick up buttons (a few I snagged as a future giveaway), get our pictures taken as if we were in the cast of our favorite shows (which I can’t wait to show you), and even get mini footballs signed by the NBC NFL guys (I got one for my Dad). A great time. And did I mention this was all before we entered the party? Yup.
The party itself was insane. Much more crowded than last year, but a lot more celeb sightings. It’s kind of strange to be having a drink with your friend, just chatting it up and then brushing shoulders with Christian Slater or Kyle Chandler as they walked by. Very surreal. A few of my favorite celebrity sightings:
The Cast of THE OFFICE an the 2008 SAG Awards

By far the best moment of this year’s SAG Awards was when the cast of THE OFFICE, my very favorite show on television, took home the award for Outstanding Cast in an Ensemble Series (Comedy). It was a pleasant surprise and I think the cast was a bit surprised as well.
Here are some pics from the cast of THE OFFICE on the red carpet on last night’s SAG Awards. I’m having MAJOR technical difficulties today which is precluding me from sharing the ton of photos I have of the cast from last night. I figure something was better than nothing, but I do sincerely apologize and hope to have the rest up soon.
Congrats once again to this fabulous group of actors: Steve Carell, Rainn Wilson, Jenna Fischer, John Krasinski, Angela Kinsey, Ed Helms, Brian Baumgartner, Oscar Nunez, Phyllis Smith, Leslie David Baker, Kate Flannery, Creed Bratton, BJ Novak, Paul Lieberstein, Mindy Kaling, Melora Hardin and Craig Robinson. We miss you and can’t wait to see you (in non-reruns) soon!

THE OFFICE – Live from the Red Carpet
The video isn’t great, but hopefully it will serve a purpose until better quality videos are available.
Video #1: Ed Helms, BJ Novak, Jenna Fischer, Kate Flannery, Angela Kinsey, Brian Baumgartner and John Krasinski in various red carpet moments from last night’s SAG Awards
Video #2: John Krasinski talks to TV Guide’s Lisa Rinna on the red carpet (not sure how he kept his eyes on her face and not her inappropriate cleavage…nice job, John)
More pics from the ceremony and after party will be available once I figure out a way to beat this blog into an inch of its life and get things working again.

A girl can really get used to this whole new episode of THE OFFICE every Thursday thing. After a summer without, I feel almost spoiled. Counting down the hours go a bit easier when I can talk about my favorite show with all of you, so let’s get to it.
Tonight on THE OFFICE….
“Launch Party” | 9pm on NBC
Michael gleefully anticipates attending the company’s Web-site launch party in New York. Meanwhile, Angela arranges a bash in Scranton, while tight Dwight gets wrapped up in a real paper chase: He tries to sell more paper than the Web site. (Promos at OfficeTally.com)
From the Desk of Meredith Palmer…
In this week’s TV Guide blog, Kate Flannery gives us a little scoop on just how plastered she got for tonight’s episodes and fills us in on why she’s so excited to attend The Office Convention in Scranton later this month. Read Kate’s updates for all the latest news, but be warned, there are a few spoilers for tonight’s episode. Leave her a comment – I know she reads them all. (Kate’s Blog)
LIVE Office Chat Tonight…
Looking forward to watching The Office with some of you tonight. If you’re around and want to watch The Office along with us, stop by the GMMR/Buddy TV LIVE Office chat tonight beginning at 8:30pm EST. Newbies are welcome! We are getting closer and closer to the season premiere of THE OFFICE. September 27th seems so far away, but it will be here before you know it. I’ve been marking down the days on my calendar (my Dunder Mifflin calendar).
As you know I’ve taken a break from THE OFFICE Thursday on GMMR this summer, but I thought I’d throw together a post today…just because. So let’s get to it.
Tonight on THE OFFICE…
The Negotiation (9/8c on NBC)
When Darryl (Craig Robinson) corners Michael about a pay increase, the meeting compels Michael to scrutinize his own salary. Meanwhile, Pam’s confession to Roy (David Denman) impacts Jim.
Happy Bird-day…
Birthday wishes go out to Steve Carell who is celebrating his birthday today and Phyllis Smith who had her big day yesterday. We hope you both had a wonderful day and wish you nothing but the best in the years to come. More importantly, I hope you both got great presents! Belated birthday wishes go out to B.J. Novak who celebrated his b-day on July 31st (although some of us celebrated his birthday on July 27th…ha ha ha)
A Dunder Mifflin Baby…
Congratulations to OFFICE writer/producer Michael Schur (aka Mose) and his wife J.J. Philbin who just announced that they are expecting their first child in February. The announcement was made this morning by Schur’s in-laws, Regis & Joy Philbin during Live with Regis and Kelly. I hear that the Schur’s produce very thirsty babies.
Dunder Mifflin Launches Website….
Ryan Bailey Howard just took his first step towards world domination with the launch of the new Dunder Mifflin Corporate website. Click around to learn more about the company, its people and shop around for DM merchandise.
Much more Office Thursday after the jump
My Day on the set of THE OFFICE (Part II)

Filed under Angela Kinsey, BJ Novak, Brian Baumgartner, David Denman, Dwight Schrute, Jenna Fischer, Jim Halpert, John Krasinski, Kate Flannery, Michael Scott, Pam Beesly, Rainn Wilson, Steve Carell, The Office, The Office Recaps, TV News
It’s Office Thursday (late but it’s still Thursday)!!! I thought I could use our weekly Office Thursday time to share Part II “my day on the set of The Office”. During Part I, I rambled at length about how we spent our day, but what I didn’t really get into was the experience of meeting the cast. And what a thrill it was. So to that end, let’s get to it.
First off I should say that Jennie and I were invited to observe day of filming for The Office. It was a work day for the cast and crew, so despite all the access we had, it wasn’t the time to interview the cast. So I know many of you asked what type of questions I asked – but it really wasn’t about that. Maybe some other time. Sorry that I don’t have any pics of the cast without me, but a girl has to remember the day somehow, right? Feel free to click on the pics to enlarge them (and sorry but one you might have to click again once they are enlarged as they are a bit distorted after the first click). Oh, and I’m really, really sorry about how long this post is. If I were a better writer I could be more succinct – but sadly for you and I both, I’m not.
Hmm, where to begin. I guess I should start with my first cast sighting. The first time I saw a Dunder Mifflinite was actually on the monitors. Pam and Phyllis were having a little chat in the conference room. At first I was trying to place the episode in which this scene took place. It hadn’t really hit me yet that the little TVs we were watching were a direct feed from the next room where they were filming. Within a few minutes I had settled in and was watching Michael, Dwight and the ladies film a scene. And then it happened – the camera panned over and BOOM! there was Krasinski. Now I must tell you that I had convinced myself that John wasn’t going to be on set. I thought for sure he was going to be down South filming Leatherheads. But nope, there he was in all his tall and lanky glory. It didn’t suck.
Ed Helms was the first cast member that Jennie and I were able to meet and talk with. Actually over the course of the day we probably saw Ed more than anyone else in the cast. My first instinct was YEAH Andy is back, and then WOW he looks SO different than he did on The Daily Show – so much younger (must be the lack of glasses). We were chatting it up a little with Ed about his time on TDS, how happy he was by the fans immediate response to Andy, and even checked out some YouTube video of him and his band The Lonesome Trio. Ed was a really sweet guy and I’m so glad he is now a series regular on the show.

The Cast of The Office in the Press Room
The first few minutes are awkward but it’s well worth it just to see the way John pulls Jenna over to him. If you squint enough you can pretend it’s Jim and Pam and life is all good. Oh, and could Paul (Toby) be ANY cuter?! I don’t think so. And I love how when a reporter asks what the award looks like, Angela just jumps off stage and brings it over to him. Adorbs! They all seems like SO much fun and appreciative of this time in their lives.

The Office Cast Gets their Swag On
January 15, 2007 by Kath Skerry
Filed under Angela Kinsey, Brian Baumgartner, Jenna Fischer, Kate Flannery, Pam Beesly, The Office, TV News
All this time you thought awards season was about the recognition for good work and the little statues they give you. P’shaw…it’s all about the swag baby. In the days leading up to awards shows, the stars are invited to gift and luxury suites and are pampered with luxuries us average blokes could only imagine. From manis and pedis, to spa days, to so many free clothes and products one might think these people didn’t have enough money to pay for it all in the first place. Ah, to be a celeb.
What it comes down to is publicity. The companies behind the swag give away the goods in hopes that the star will be seen with them or talk about them and help sell the product for them. Sounds like a pretty frakkin’ good trade off to me.
Anyway, our friends over at The Office are now in the big time, and they get invited to all these fun events. I couldn’t help but share some of the great pics of the cast of “The Office” and their swag.
Best of luck to The Office…here’s to hoping you take home Best Comedy!!

I am having a CRAZY busy day, but I had to quickly pass along this awesome news…well awesome to fans of The Office (which I know most of you are). Thanks to tanster for alerting me to this news.
“Producer’s Cut” To Be Web-Exclusive Event On NBC.com On November 9th
BURBANK, Calif. November 6, 2006 NBC’s Emmy-winning comedy “The Office” (Thursdays, 8:30 9:00pm ET/PT) will offer fans a first-ever, web-exclusive “producer’s cut” on November 9th. The episode will include additional scenes and extra footage not shown in the broadcast version. Viewers can log onto NBC.com at 9:00pm (PT) on November 9th to see the web-exclusive event.
The announcement was made today by Vivi Zigler, executive vice president NBC digital entertainment and new media.
“This is a first-of-its-kind and a real bonus for fans of ‘The Office,'” said Zigler. “It’s also a natural for this show which has continually pushed the envelope in the digital landscape. We’re seeing an incredible audience reaction to the evolving digital extensions of our programming and anticipate this being one of their favorites.”
In the pivotal November 9th episode, Jan (Melora Hardin) tells Michael (Steve Carell) that the Scranton Branch will be shutting down and Michael strives to keep his staff’s spirits up. Meanwhile, everyone privately begins to envision how their lives will change in the aftermath. Rainn Wilson, Jenna Fischer, John Krasinski, B.J. Novak, David Denman, Leslie David Baker, Brian Baumgartner, Kate Flannery, Angela Kinsey, Phyllis Smith, Paul Lieberstein and Mindy Kaling also star, and Ed Helms (“The Daily Show”), Rashida Jones (“Wanted”) and Charles Esten (“Whose Line Is It Anyway?”) guest-star.
UPDATE: My sources tell me that the “producer’s cut” will remain on NBC.com for at least one week.
