COMMUNITY: ‘Abed’s Uncontrollable Christmas’

Dear Santa, For Christmas I would like the following things: a brand new slingbox, a kitten to cuddle with, for GLEE to stop being so inconsistent, and an Abed of my very own.
My love for Abed Nadir knows no bounds. Of all my TV boyfriends—and, oh, there are many—Abed tops the list every time. He’s sweet, observant, awkward, and a veritable encyclopedia of all things pop culture. In other words, my soul mate. Not to mention the fact that he stars in a show that consistently steals the title of My Favorite Series Currently on the Air from other greatly entertaining contenders like BONES, MAD MEN, and GLEE. That’s some tough competition, my friends.

COMMUNITY gets into the holiday spirit with their long-awaited Christmas episode this Thursday. “Abed’s Uncontrollable Christmas” will follow Abed (Danny Pudi) as he goes on a stop-motion animated quest to find the meaning of Christmas, alongside the likes of Snow Man Chang, Teddy Bear Pierce, and Ballerina Annie.
When it was first announced a few months back that this episode would be purely based in a claymation animated world, I had about 1.5 seconds of skepticism. Then I remembered that this is COMMUNITY, Dan Harmon and his team are brilliant, and that this is probably going to be the highlight of a week already jam-packed with holiday cheer.
These preview and behind-the scenes clips only solidify my feelings on the matter:

This week’s episode is all about the COMMUNITY gang’s avoidance of studying for finals. Also, Troy’s birthday. We get to see the entire crew, gathered around their usual study table in birthday hats! Troy, being a Jehova’s Witness (they don’t believe in celebrating bdays) Jeff and company can’t sing the whole shebang that is the classic “Happy Birthday” song; they only sing the last two words. The icing on Troy’s birthday cake says it all: “Hello during a random desert, the month and day of which coincide numerically with your expulsion from a uterus.” Aw, how sweet! Happy Expulsion, Troy!
